Probably because you classify Gundy's behavior as an act or "entitled". It isnt. Other coaches of his caliber are treated differently when having off years. Is he on par with the great coaches of all-time? No. But his teams and his name are on multiple lists over his tenure for being a successful coach. Why people continue to argue this point is beyond me. He hasnt simply achieved wins by scheduling creampuffs. Every SEC coach plays an FCS opponent every year and no one bats an eye. Gundy's teams are on lists for beating ranked opponents or winning as underdogs, against the spread, etc. That means he is always being thought of as the lessor of two teams in matchups but consistently beats the odds. Its becauae of perception of the school & the talent he brings in. We came in to this season knowing the QB situation was a huge ? regardless of who started. Bowman may be the answer and just needed time to familairize with the offense in realtime. Who knows?
All coaches at Gundy's level understand what is expected and respond in kind to the media and fans. Some in this fanbase beat up Gundy because of one metric and its because of the crimson mouthbreathers we've all dealt with for eternity.
Someday, we will move on from Gundy and I will defend that coach juat as much until it is decide they must go as well.
Sorry, you feel how you want to feel. I get it with personal investment and what-not.
Its just tiresome how people project normal behavior onto a profession that is anything but normal in expectation.
