I feel like Mason Cobb will leave a gap. I saw Justin Wright up close and watched his tape last year, nice player but he will create a drop off from Cobb. Also not sure Wright will start, when I was there in April he was running with 2s.

However to support your point, I think the players lost were either:

1. Played low impact positions
2. Played a position with significant depth
3. Not all that great to begin with

A good example of #2 would be JPR. He is a really good player and a big loss, but the guys we have behind him represent maybe only a small dip. I would still apply this to QB as well. Losing Sanders sucks, but from what Ive seen from Bowman the dip will minimal if any.

One exception is likely Jabbar Muhammad. Cam Smith played well last year but Muhammad sure would be nice to have.

I wasn't a big Cobb fan. He ran around like a chicken with his head cut off and left too many gaps open.
 
The funny thing is some people might argue that our schedule might be weak without OU. Which btw OU lost 7 games last year, and the outlook this year is maybe slightly better.

But look at our future schedule. We have home and homes with Arkansas, Oregon and Alabama the next 6 years. If we continued to schedule bedlam, it really limits ability to schedule creatively because you still need a gimme game. I highly doubt you'd want to schedule a Alabama and an OU, then go through a full conference slate.

I think what would be smart is to let the current schedule run it's course, then set a home and home for 2030 and 2031. The dust will have settled and likely everyone will have moved on, and the build up after 7 years of not playing will be pretty huge. But I would leave it open ended, and not over commit to a reoccurring series.
 
I think continuing anything short term is a huge mistake. But it appears this is dead and Weinberg/Shrum have caved. Disappointed to say the least but that’s just me.

Guess we are little bro.

If Bowman and the OLine stay healthy, I think we win 10 games this year, especially with the schedule. It's a big if, but we seemingly should be due for a season in which we stay relatively healthy, feels like it's been a while. I think the defense will do well under Nard Dog, but that's another if, we'll have to see. I'm not too worried about the talent level, it's there, but again, need to stay healthy.
 
I think we should have a top 50ish caliber defense. Won't force a lot of turnovers or generate sacks, but will be really steady and tough to generate big plays on. If that's the case and Bowman stays healthy, and they're able to field a decent run game, I see no reason why they dont go 9-3 with a bowl game win to finish 10-3. Also 9-3 might get you to the Big 12 CG.

I'll have some of what he's drinking! Basing my expectations on history, if we catch a few breaks, we can definitely reach the 10 win mark.
 
Watching a replay of the Ol’ Miss spring game and Spencer Sanders is absolutely lighting it up. It’s amazing watching him with an offensive line that gives him all kinds of time and gaping holes to run through. He’s going to have a huge year this year at Ole Miss if he gets that kind of protection. It’s really an opportunity lost for what we could’ve seen that he had to run around like a chicken with his head cut off with zero protection for four years at OSU. We had better fix that issue to at least the level of an average offensive line, or Bowman is going to get lit up in the backfield.

Did he win qb1?
I believe our line was built more for a Rudolph type qb vs the run around like chicken...esp once injuries depleted depth for several games.
Also, I believe SS over compensated for the lack of mobility in the oline which created more issues in execution of blocking schemes for said "mobile" qb...

It's the spring game...let him marinate til the season before sipping the Toddies...
