Official Game Thread: UT-Martin vs. Oklahoma State

I feel kind of bad for Gundy. He sold out everything for big time change to do a big turnaround and his exit may have just been scripted by a broken bone in a QBs foot! Unless Hauss can come back and close out the season with wins against KSU, ISU, Central Florida, and TTech, which is highly unlikely, Gundy is probably toast! The biggest dilemma is who are we going to get that’s better? If we come out of Eugene, Oregon hurting from a 52-0 beat down (Oregon is WAY better than Colorado who beat us by that much), his seat is going to be beyond flaming hot. I would bet the Regents would already be starting a search if that were to happen!

I think the injury helps Gundog. We don’t look like we’re going to be a competitive team against quality competition (I hope I’m wrong). The injury is the excuse that gets him another year and a few more million.

Perhaps but we are slipping in the college football arms race when the conference was there for the taking with no OU/Texas.

One game down and the season feels like it is over. I have zero confidence we can get anything done this season.

This time next year we will be pumped up and excited about GJ Kinne or Jeff Traylors first season

It’s only one game, but I think we’re a ways away from beating the Cincy team I saw last night, let alone the top of the conference

Flores is very capable, he won't be the reason we suck
The OL needs to open holes for the running backs. If they can do that, Flores looks more than capable. If they can't, we weren't going to have a successful season anyway. Hejny's speed might have masked some of those issues but you can't be successful if the running backs are constantly met with a wall on every handoff. Our NFL Doak Walker Award winner couldn't succeed when a wall of defenders are able to dominate the OL.

Stinks. The Injury seems like it takes us from an 8 win season to probably fighting for 4-5. Not because I’m down on Zane but I completely expect Gundy will go ultra conservative to try and protect Zane from injury and not allow him to do things he can.

The season must be over. Day after the opening game and RA is talking softball for an hour.

Hejny looked pretty good. Flores looked pretty average, but I don't think the play calling gave Zane the opportunities to shine. Like previous posters, it was like coaches were protecting Zane from getting hurt. Defense was much better than last year, but major concerns exist with Robertson and the Smith trio in the back end -- because they were not good last year. IMO the o-line was slightly better than last year but they must improve quickly if we're going to win games. The majority of the winnable games are in the front of the schedule -- Tulsa, Baylor, Arizona, Houston, Cincy -- when Hejny is out.

Play calling was certainly different. And it was his first game action in 3 years. I’m not worried about Zane.

I’m worried about our lines and the play calling going forward.

Oregon is going to expose just how far we’ve fallen off on each line in a short period of time.

I thought Hejny was out for 5 weeks, Oregon, Bye, Tulsa, Baylor and Arizona.
