and of course you know better than Nick Saban, Dan Mullen, Bobby Petrino, and Romeo Crennel

Most of those names fired him too.

…and that’s rich coming from you after all of the comments you’ve made on here about coaches.

Reddit thread for those not on there. Lots of condolences from fans of other schools insinuating this is a “F you” hire from Gundy.

"Most of those fired him." After which season posted above did he get fired?

My comments about coaches usually is followed by what I disagree with or didn't work, your comment was "he sucks."

The coaches I've criticized were performing much worse than the one we just hired.

Exactly. And Reddit isn't exactly a place to go to get real info.
Reddit is good for a couple of things. Seeing what fans outside of the OSU community think is my prime reason for using it.

It also has interesting fan analysis across the sport. Lots of cfb sickos on there.

It also can serve as a news aggregator. Albeit one that requires some vetting.

Fair enough. But it looks like there's about 15 disgruntled Florida fans. The results at Florida are a concern, but it's also relative. Most of us agree that we just want a competent defense that can keep us in games and force turnovers, I'm optimistic that he can do that.

The last year at UGA is also a bit concerning to me, but that was a long time ago.

My UGA friends and family have sent their condolences as well.

I think it’s fair to say, the hire is not exciting to most outside of OSU people looking for positives. I understand we were really bad last year. But shooting for mediocre based on his historical performance, does not give me confidence in the decision making of OSU leadership. We’ll see what happens and hope for the best.

One thing I want to explore more is his pedigree of getting people drafted. I'll do some research and report.

The combined average of all of his years at all locations is the 37th ranked defense. That is a vast improvement over 132nd!
Average ranking is not the concern, it's trends. The trends don't look great in his 3rd or 4th years indicating he's a good x's and o's coach, and probably gets guys fired up, but one of a few things has to be true 1) his message starts to ring hollow and guys tune out 2) his schemes are able to be figured out after a season or two 3) his recruiting ability isn't strong - this would be my guess, but I didn't look up the stats, so could be wrong.

Big time Derek Mason vibes. Everyone was excited because he was at auburn without acknowledging how miserable he was at Vandy.
