Changes Need to be Made

And as a direct result of the negligence and incompetence, your QB commit flips to ou after being offered one day ago and not even visiting campus. Because ou has their crap together and fired then hired a new OC already. Waiting until after signing day to keep the class together…LOL!

Or it’s because Ou is a blue blood program playing in the SEC with boat loads of cash to toss around.

You have literally no clue how much money they’re giving him.
And you do?

BTW, I don’t really care about this kid or him flipping. He’ll probably never play a meaningful down at ou and end up somewhere like Utah State or Fresno or something. The point is the chaos of this program right now.

Good podcast from these guys as a wrap to the season. 27 minute mark is what I find most interesting regarding the future of staff make up @OSUPSYCHO.

I do know that the minimum Ou gives their players is higher than ours. Arbuckle wanted this kid. Recruited him at WSU. Leading me to believe that they threw a little money his way. But I’d definitely say this had much more to do with Ou being a blue blood and in the SEC.

I do agree with you on that I also believe he’ll be in the portal in a year or two. If Arbuckle gets the offense rolling, they’ll be able to go get any 5* QB they want to get.

I wouldn’t say they have their crap together, Venables’ first three seasons have been a train wreck by their standards.

Even when OSU was winning 10 games a year they rarely beat the goons head to head in recruiting.

Whether we like to do it under the radar is neither here nor there. The idea that it'll help save recruits is a farce! As a matter of fact, it could help lure recruits if you hire the right guy. Our QB commit had previously received an offer from the OU OC when he was at WSU. They had an existing relationship, and he was able to flip him at the new job. We don't value recruiting, we value coaching, which is evidenced by our budgets and the results they provide.

This is the national recruit rankings for this year, recruiting budget (2022 numbers from CBS), total coaching salaries (USA today)
TCU - 21, Private, private
CU - 34, $770K $10.6Mil
BU - 35, Private, private
KSU - 37, $842K, $10.4Mil
ASU - 42, $462K $9.0Mil
Utah - 43, $1.2Mil $14.1Mil
WVU - 47, $971K $7.6Mil
UH - 48, Nonp5 $8.3Mil
TTU - 49, $930K $9.4Mil
AZ - 52, $1.3Mil $7.9Mil
ISU - 53, $804K $8.8Mil
BYU - 45, Private, Private
OSU - 58, $455K (low in US) $14.1Mil
Cincy - 60, Nonp5 $8.3Mil
KU - 61, $841K $11.8Mil
UCF - 75, Nonp5, $8.4Mil

We could legitimately reduce salaries by 4 million, reallocate that to recruiting, and be competitive in salaries with every team in the conference not named Utah, and have a recruiting budget 4x the rest of the conference, and more than $1million larger than every team in the country except georgia!

Yeah, you’re right, and I should have clarified I was more referring to them addressing their issues of this past season. Their offense was in a similar position to our defense mid season when they fired the OC, made enough improvement to get themselves to a bowl. More importantly they were already working for weeks to secure their future OC and did that almost immediately after the season ended.

Exactly.
That’s why I posted the article about them bringing in the former AT&T CEO to help strategize. You’re either moving forward or getting left behind.

I'd be curious what our front office staff situation looked like in 2022 compared to 2024. Our devaluing of this aspect historically, has definitely been a frustration of many fans. Another thing to consider is how far we were "travelling" for recruits at that point in time. We recruit Dallas/Houston hard historically, but there has definitely been a trend of looking outside of our bubble as of late.

Don’t know how true it is but it’s being reported he was offered $200k.
Not sure if I believe that number, sounds like something from RA or OSU mouthpieces. If true, that’s a crazy amount to pay for a 3 star true freshman is unlikely to see the field for at least a couple of years, especially if the Mateer kid comes with Arbuckle. Sounds like they are not comfortable with what they have on campus to back up Mateer or those guys are leaving.

Actually Cale Gundy reported we offered him $150k and Ou last night offered $250k. They then called to see if we would match and the answer was no.
