Michigan? Honestly can’t remember that one.Hopefully, Trip White will turn out like the LB transfer we got from Michigan (can’t remember his name) a few years ago. That guy didn’t play much at Michigan and wound up being pretty good at OSU.

When does the 105 man (I think?) roster limit go into effect? If indeed they are done, it has definitely a positive step for the program.
Defensively, I'd give an A-. They addressed every position and added depth as well. There should be competition at every spot and there is a wealth of experience amongst the guys coming in. I'm excited about the defense next year.
Offensively I'd go with a B-. There's still a lot of uncertainty for me with getting one QB who has yet to throw a collegiate pass (he may end up being great--but we don't know), a receiver who used to be a QB and only has career 2 receptions. Both of those guys we'll have to trust Meacham on. I think the OL has been shored up pretty well, and that will be a huge key obviously.
Overall it's been a big 6 weeks for Gundy and OSU football. There will probably be some more movement in the next window with some guys leaving, and the roster is already way too big.
The defense will be okay. Not great, but better than this year.If indeed they are done, it has definitely a positive step for the program.

Fields and Hicks I think will be 1/2. But that’s just my guess. Nothing to go on.The defense will be okay. Not great, but better than this year.
The offense concerns me, but not because of Meacham, or even the QB position. I am very concerned about the RB spot. Trent Howland will be our most experienced back, and he has 124 career carries. Following him will be Sesi, who I do think can be really good (48 carries), Fields (21 carries) and Hicks (2 carries) who transferred from OU.
Obviously, Gundy wants to lean heavily on the run game and his offense is successful only so far as the run game is successful. We'll see how much changes with Meacham, but that's not a lot of experience in what is a crucial position. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of talent. Just not a lot of experience.
I'm excited about Fields. He looked really good late in the year. I'd like to see us actually use Howland as a short yardage back, but your point is right--it won't matter unless someone blocks for them.Fields and Hicks I think will be 1/2. But that’s just my guess. Nothing to go on.
Won’t matter if Barry Sanders is back there without improved o line, scheme and play calling.
Fair point. I just assumed that we’d be better on the o-line just by getting rid of Dickey. Hopefully we see improvement across the line with a new OC and some new o-line coaches.Fields and Hicks I think will be 1/2. But that’s just my guess. Nothing to go on.

Take it back. Barry did pretty good with the Lions and they didn’t have much of a line.Fields and Hicks I think will be 1/2. But that’s just my guess. Nothing to go on.

They were actually pretty good at a point.Take it back. Barry did pretty good with the Lions and they didn’t have much of a line.
GoneDid we keep Dickey, or is he gone?
That’s a relevant question. You’ve got to assume it’s been taken into consideration imo.It would still mean that players on playoff teams wouldn’t be able to enter and enroll in time for spring practice, right? And players looking to portal would probably still sit out crappy bowl games. It’s probably better though.
I like it. I would love for the final, or at the very least the semis to be on Jan 1. But you’re right, conference championship games the first week of Dec squeeze the calendar. I wouldn’t eliminate them but I would put them at Thanksgiving. Start everyone at week zero or cut out one of the byes and that part is easy.My proposal is to move the playoff up and have the national championship on New Years Day. Then a ten day window to provide time to enroll for the spring for players that find a new spot quickly.
From a broader perspective, do away with the conference championship games. Award those based on regular season records and tiebreakers like the Big XII did for several years. Then move the playoff up a few weeks. The reason I always hear to keep the CCG's is the money, but we just added a ton of highly rated games with the 12 team playoff. Make it 16 if you want more revenue to offset the CCG revenue. Pay it out based on ratings to make sure the SEC doesn't cry about even split. More eyeballs larger share. That's where we’re heading with conference distributions anyway.
This is pretty much exactly what Jimbo Fisher’s been advocating.I like it. I would love for the final, or at the very least the semis to be on Jan 1. The Atmy/Navy game has thrown a wrench into scheduling and needs work as well. (I’ve been to Army/Navy twice and highly recommend for any college football fan.) That said, it doesn’t really needs it ‘own day.’ I’d start the first round the Friday before. Play Army/Navy at 12:00, another playoff at 3:30, and third one at 7:00. Could fit two games on Friday maybe?
Then following Saturday is quarters, next Saturday is semis and following SATURDAY is finals. That would have ended the year on Jan 4 this time. I hate the Monday night crap. Conference championships were 12/7, national title isn’t until Monday January 20th. Way too long.
Rant over.
