In another thread someone asked about former Cowboys. I will try to get a couple of these a day going back 5 or so years. I apologize if the format is wonky I’m just copy/pasting from websites.

2024

  • Carson Benge: Round 1, Pick 19 (New York Mets) ... He owns a .956 OPS with a pair of home runs in his 13 games in Double-A Binghamton w an impressive .422 total on-base percentage, with 52 walks and just 58 strikeouts on his season overall.
  • Brian Holiday: Round 3, Pick 80 (St. Louis)…The Florida Complex League Cardinals placed Holiday(undisclosed) on the full-season injured list May 3. It's not clear what injury Holiday is dealing with, but it will prevent him from making his professional debut this season. The 21-year-old was a third-round pick by the Cardinals in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft
  • Zach Ehrhard: Round 4 Pick 115 (Boston Red Sox) ... Zach Ehrhard gets the Offensive Player of the Month award despite a slightly lower .278 average. That's because the right-handed hitting outfielder also held a .363 OBP and a .500 slugging percentage. He hit five doubles and five home runs. Ehrhard drove in 10 runs and scored 15 more. He's also riding a six-game hitting streak at the moment. The 22-year-old took a bit of time to get acclimated to Double-A but started off June with a two-homer performance. That was the perfect indication that he'd have a strong month.
  • Janzen Keisel: Round 6, Pick 186 (Tampa Bay Rays) ... No stories. FCL Rays Rookie Affiliate League 2025 Stats

  • Robert Cranz: Round 7, Pick 200 (Washington Nationals) ... Single-A: RHP Robert Cranz. Cranz was the Nationals' seventh-round picklast season and played above that slot so far. He has a 2.70 ERA over 16.2 innings of relief with a 1.020 WHIP and 25 strikeouts. The 22-year-old has walked just nine batters and given up two home runs, but that's fine for the only real mistakes make so young into being a pro. He was a breakout star as a senior at Oklahoma State with a 1.63 ERA over 49.2 innings of work out of the bullpen and has kept that excitement going so far.

2023 Picks

Juaron Watts-Brown was the first Cowboy to hear his name called as he was taken in the third round with the 89th overall pick by Toronto….Double A now. For Watts-Brown, 2025 marks a season in which he’s truly put it all together.
Strikeout stuff that Blue Jays fans can dream on
Watts-Brown has been as successful as Rogers, albeit in a different way. The #16 Blue Jays prospect per MLB Pipeline leads the circuit in strikeouts with 62 in just 37 1/3 innings pitched. Even though he won’t be in the league any longer, it may be a couple of weeks before he moves down from the top spot, since he leads the field by 15 punchouts.
For the former Oklahoma State Cowboy, walks were the thing that held him back in 2024. He made nine starts in the second half last year in high-A, producing a 6.35 ERA in 45 1/3 innings. The strikeout stuff was there – 57 punchouts, good for an 11.3 K/9 – but he also walked 6.2 batters per nine innings. This year, the strikeout rate has climbed to a whopping 14.9 mark (7th best in MILB), while managing a solid 2.9 BB/9.

Nolan McLean, who was taken in the 3rd round by the New York Mets with the 91st overall selection. Mets beat reporter Anthony DiComo suggests that Nolan McLean “could play a key role in the upcoming pennant race.” (Anthony DiComo)
Fantasy Impact
McLean is likely to play a role as a reliever with the returns of Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea. He has posted a 2.52 ERA across 60 2/3 innings since being promoted to Triple-A.

For the second consecutive outing, Mets pitching prospect Nolan McLean struck out double-digit batters in a start for Triple-A Syracuse.

Six days after fanning 10 over 5.0 innings for the first time in his career, McLean did it again on Wednesday night.
This time, the right-hander went six scoreless innings against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the Philadelphia Phillies' Triple-A affiliate, and allowed just three hits and three walks while striking out 10 on 97 pitches (62 strikes).
Now at 95 strikeouts through 87 innings pitched between Double-A and Triple-A, McLean is starting to show some elite swing-and-miss stuff in what has already been a breakout season for him.
Before these last two starts, the most strikeouts the 23-year-old had in a game this year was eight, which happened twice, both of which came while pitching for Binghamton. He struck out seven in his first start for Syracuse, but never had more than six in any other outing before his last two.
Wednesday's start was also the first time McLean allowed no earned runs since May 22, although he's allowed two earned runs or fewer in nine straight outings.
McLean came away with a no-decision, exiting the game in a scoreless tie. However, with Syracuse down 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth, prospect
Drew Gilbert hit a game-tying single before Joey Meneses walked it off with a single of his own.

Roc Riggio was a fourth-round choice of the New York Yankees, who took the OSU second baseman with the 129th overall pick. Double A. George Lombard Jr. has received plenty of hype, and rightfully so, for his performance in the minor leagues this season, but another New York Yankees infield prospect who's currently playing for Double-A Somerset has emerged as one of the most productive farmhands across baseball. After playing two seasons at Oklahoma State, where he slashed .316/.438/.601 with 29 home runs and 108 RBIs across 113 games, the Yankees selected Roc Riggio in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft. He signed for $693,000, and would post a .611 OPS over 97 plate appearances between the Florida Complex League and Low-A Tampa in his first year with the organization. Riggio moved up to High-A Hudson Valley for the entire 2024 campaign, batting .221/.349/.397 with 11 homers, 47 RBIs and 27 stolen bases while primarily playing second base.
FanGraphs' Eric Longenhagen ranked the 23-year-old as the Yankees' No. 23 prospect coming into the 2025 season, voicing some concerns about his ability to make consistent contact while propping up both his bat speed and defensive prowess.
"Lefty-hitting infielders with this kind of bat speed are uncommon, and Riggio is no slouch as a defender, either, even though he is likely limited to second base," he wrote. "A lack of plate coverage and barrel control is a byproduct of the effort with which Riggio swings. While he sports hit tool risk, there are some Rougned Odor similarities here, though a Kody Clemens and Cavan Biggio type of role is probably more likely."

Riggio began the year on the injured list and played a pair of rehab games in the Florida Complex League before returning to Hudson Valley on May 6. He proceeded to make light work of the South Atlantic League's pitching, as he hit .264/.436/.597 with six home runs and 15 RBIs over 94 plate appearances before earning a promotion to Somerset on June 3.
Though it's over a small sample size, his dominance in High-A has carried over to Double-A. Riggio has blasted an absurd five home runs over just seven games for the Patriots while slashing .367/.367/.967 in 30 trips to the plate.

Among all minor leaguers who have at least 100 plate appearances this season, Riggio ranks second in wRC+ and fourth in OPS with marks of 209 and 1.128, respectively, while his 12 home runs are the most of any Yankees prospect.
Whether New York holds onto him or not at the trade deadline, Riggio appears to have a bright future ahead of him as his stock continues to rise.
