Hopefully, Trip White will turn out like the LB transfer we got from Michigan (can’t remember his name) a few years ago. That guy didn’t play much at Michigan and wound up being pretty good at OSU.

If indeed they are done, it has definitely a positive step for the program.

Defensively, I'd give an A-. They addressed every position and added depth as well. There should be competition at every spot and there is a wealth of experience amongst the guys coming in. I'm excited about the defense next year.

Offensively I'd go with a B-. There's still a lot of uncertainty for me with getting one QB who has yet to throw a collegiate pass (he may end up being great--but we don't know), a receiver who used to be a QB and only has career 2 receptions. Both of those guys we'll have to trust Meacham on. I think the OL has been shored up pretty well, and that will be a huge key obviously.

Overall it's been a big 6 weeks for Gundy and OSU football. There will probably be some more movement in the next window with some guys leaving, and the roster is already way too big.

When does the 105 man (I think?) roster limit go into effect?

While I would agree that Hejny and Sam Jackson are quite inexperienced, it is comforting to me to know that Meacham wanted them on the roster. Surely he has a better insight into their abilities than anyone else in the program as he coached them both at TCU. He must think they both can contribute.

I wish they could have picked up a proven playmaker on offense. A lot of these guys have potential but nobody has produced consistently at this level. This is really quite the opposite of last year's team, that had so many proven guys returning. Obviously, that doesn't guarantee anything though. Nobody would have guessed that much returning production would win 3 games.

The defense will be okay. Not great, but better than this year.

The offense concerns me, but not because of Meacham, or even the QB position. I am very concerned about the RB spot. Trent Howland will be our most experienced back, and he has 124 career carries. Following him will be Sesi, who I do think can be really good (48 carries), Fields (21 carries) and Hicks (2 carries) who transferred from OU.

Obviously, Gundy wants to lean heavily on the run game and his offense is successful only so far as the run game is successful. We'll see how much changes with Meacham, but that's not a lot of experience in what is a crucial position. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of talent. Just not a lot of experience.

Fields and Hicks I think will be 1/2. But that’s just my guess. Nothing to go on.

Won’t matter if Barry Sanders is back there without improved o line, scheme and play calling.

I'm excited about Fields. He looked really good late in the year. I'd like to see us actually use Howland as a short yardage back, but your point is right--it won't matter unless someone blocks for them.

Take it back. Barry did pretty good with the Lions and they didn’t have much of a line.
They were actually pretty good at a point.

History sadly kind of forgets that they lost a really good OL in Mike Utley to paralysis from an injury, & then that another starter, Eric Andolsek, was struck and killed while weedeating his property in Louisiana.

Wayne Fontes was definitely not the guy to lead them to the promised land, but they definitely had some unbelievable bad luck too.
