2022-2023 Off-Season

Oh we’re repeating things. Ok, I’ll go. Why do you care? Logically irrelevant to you in every way possible.

Which team’s board will you run to after you guys leave? Assuming Vandy becomes your new superiority complex target? Maybe the Mississippi’s, Mizzou? Id actually follow you to see how the schtick works out and their responses. Honestly think it would be hilarious no malice intended.
Doesnt matter why I care. I am here on the board talking about it though.

I am on like 6 or 7 other boards i browse on periodically.

Interesting take. My understanding from the OP years was that the reason we can't compete with the big dogs is due to our limited recruiting budget. Increase that single number, and we win more games (so they claimed). Are you saying that recruiting budgets aren't important?
It's not the only thing, it's a big part of it though and there is a correlation to talent and success. With the teams gundy has been able to field so far with the mediocre level investment his superiors have given him, I would say that the only real thing missing was all those big time players they keep losing out on. Development has been there, a good scheme has been there. enough talent to win a bunch of games but not consistently win the ones that elevate the program

And,,,,we can’t match many of the high dollar NIL offers that the blue bloods are offering.

Well nobody can really match what the top five programs are basically offering right now but at the same time, if you look at recruiting rankings, they are not the top five classes either. Nil is a huge factor in most recruitment, but that just comes to show how important the recruiting game is now and how much you really have to invest to be a have instead of a have not. Most of the big time nil stuff comes to fruition if you ball out on the field, and you can’t do that if you’re on the bench so he can open up opportunities at other places

That recruiting story only had limited information they got through FOIA requests. It did not take into account many things OSU is doing in recruiting. Are we great, no. Are we the worst in college football, hell no not by a long shot.

No doubt, i suppose i just look at recruiting, it's clear gundy knows how to recruit. He is good at getting those 'through the cracks' types that get missed by others. He has a track record of getting amazing production out of 3 stars sometimes. he occasionally has good classes too. But he isnt consistent enough to do a lot with it. for every 2011 he has, he has a handful of 2022s. The type of team he had in 2011 though, he could have a team like that way more often than once a decade if he stepped it up in recruiting though. It's like, the more high level guys you sign, the more likely one of them turns out to be a great player. But if you are relying on 3 stars, they are just less likely to turn out.

With OU and texas gone, it should open doors. In 2020 they had the 5th best class in the big 12. but in 2021 and 2022 it was 3rd. If they could maintain that they could win this conference. But in 2023 they were 9th out of 10, only kansas had worse class but it was by virtue of having 14 commits instead of Osu's 21. Otherwise by avg rating of each player, it was dead last in the big 12. That is not a good sign. Especially when you look at UCF and Houston and Cincinatti all with higher player ratings and only BYU having a lower per player rating , but not by much, but at least they signed two 4 stars to Osu's zero.

I feel like this is a good opportunity for osu to elevate their status in the cfb world but the 23 class makes me doubt that a bit, especially when you compare it to the rest of the new big 12.
