Time to throw the house at UT

We do not run HB dive. We run inside zone, outside zone (both with insert) and counter (both GT and GH). Just because you guys see “a run up the middle” for no gain a handful of times, does not mean to give up on our inside zone. The other team has a game plan and good players too. Ollie and the OL have proven time and time again, just keep at it and it will start hitting eventually.
I would like to see more pin/pull action. Pulling the playside guard and let Ollie get out in space looking for the cut. I don't remember seeing it but then again haven't been paying attention to it. We see a lot of GH/GT counter like you said. I don't think we have the individual horses on the O-Line to run a lot of zone scheme against Texas. Need to double team Sweat all day and make his life hard.

Wouldn’t mind seeing some more of TE Johnson coming through a gap to level some DE

Thank you!

A lot of the times it's actually an outside run that wasn't there so Ollie cuts inside and gets what he can.

And I'm pretty sure Ollie's longer TD run where he went around the left edge was actually inside zone and the end crashed allowing OG to bounce it.

As I put in another thread, Texas are far from unbeatable. Best team they have had in awhile mind, but we matchup with them better than I think those in the media feel we do. We are the huge underdogs though no doubt. Shut everyone up Pokes and bring that title back to Stillwater!

And also Bowman needs to play like prime Weeden in this one for sure.

Not to change the subject too much but...What bowl game are we looking at when we beat UT?
Love the confidence! I think if we win, the Cotton Bowl would be where would we be headed against someone like say Penn State. If we lose my bet would be on the Pop-Tarts bowl against an ACC team(Say NC State or Notre Dame).

Ollie missed a couple of cutbacks on inside zone in the 2nd quarter. It looks like an adjustment that was made was to emphasize that OL movement later in the game (see his third touchdown)

Dunn HAS to be able to find a way to run the ball effectively, and it will likely involve some window dressing and a lot of movement, and maybe something they haven't seen yet.

And as many have said, Bowman will have to pass to open up the run. BYU gradually moved their safety back a few steps in the 3rd and 4th quarters as Bowman continued to hit LJ3 on the skinny post right over them.

Ewers’ overthrows really helped us out last year. Secondary needs to be buttoned up, an area I am least confident for entire team.
Yep, his accuracy's improved this year to completing 70% of his throws. His below 60% last year cost them a couple of games.

I honestly think Gundy wants vanilla on both sides of the ball in the first half of most games so he has time to make complicated adjustments at half time. I wish we had someone who could make adjustments on the fly.
I actually prefer it this way. Our best teams have always excelled after making 2nd half adjustments that they other team isn't ready for. Of course it's nice to be up 10 at half, and extend it to 21 in the 2nd half, but I love watching a team get better as the game goes on!

Completion percentage is one of the most overlooked stats for QB's, especially at the college level. 65% seems to be the magic number for good. Anything above 68% is elite. AB has averaged 59.9% this year and Ewers has averaged 69.8% this year. In their only loss, Ewers was 84% completion, but the two picks drastically changed the game. In each of our losses, Bowman's completion rate was 50%, 47.9%, and 53%. The rest of the season, he averaged 63% AB has it in him, as he averaged 69.4% in his freshman year at Tech.

For reference, SS was 62.8, 62.8, 62.1 and 57.6 in his 4 years steering the ship for us. Mason Rudolph was 62.3, 63.4, and 65 in his 3 years. BWeeden was 66.9 and 72.3. ZRob was 60.4, 65, 59.8. No of the others were close to 65.

Bwahaha...whoever the one guy was that kept going on about Sweat and the other ut DL....Gundy finally gave him a sly smile and put it to rest. "They always have guys like that" he took it all the way back to Mack Brown. This is the type of thing that comes from everyone doubting Gundy's methods. He knows his job. It's about teaching his players to know what he knows. The reporter was trying to get Gundy to talk about unique ways of scheming ut DLs and he's like: "or...we could just block 'em". Is he the greatest ever, no. But he knows what he's doing. Sometimes the players just need a little time to catch up.

I really like what he said about Rucker...that he recognizes what he did wrong to get beat, doesn't let it phase him and gets back out there while giving confidence to the younger guys around him.

Also, the nugget about recruiting with the portal. Explains a lot about what was going on in the first 3 games. He is building a culture (aimed at portal guys) to make it known that what they say will happen for a recruit will happen: reps in spring, reps in Aug, reps in the early season to earn a spot on the field. That culture may pay off later as more of these kids thinking about greener pastures find out who is telling the truth and who is selling a line.

Let's start doordashing jugs of Vodka to every office in the athletic department in Austin.

Some is bound to find Sark. We need an SC level meltdown again.

Absolutely. Ollie gets better as the game goes on not only from a physicality standpoint but he reads the flow of the defense and adjusts his cuts as the game goes on. It’s very obvious and goes without saying but the dude is big time!

We haven’t ran any true pin and pull that I can recall. We have got in some bunch right formations, down blocked and pulled the tackle to the edge and pitched it to Ollie. It had some success but not much. The big factor is what all can the OL/RB’s retain and play at a high level. Have to be very careful not to do too much.
