I'm not a lawyer and I haven't read Gundy's contract, but I would assume there is some boilerplate language about causing financial harm and embarrassment to the university. It could be argued (not saying they would win) that his comments about loser fans caused embarrassment and financial harm.
Additionally, I also assume that there is some boilerplate language about insubordination. If the rumors are true that Gundy refused to meet with Wieberg and Shrum, I would think you could argue that was insubordination.
Regardless, if it came to firing for cause it would go to court and the only people that would win in that case would be the lawyers. Finally, I know what happens when you ass u me, so take all this with a grain of salt.

Gundy, the BoR, potential coaching hires, coaches that allegedly changed their minds, Shrum, Weiberg, etc…..
How do you know they are wild? Do you know these people personally?

We're here to discuss OSU sports and share our opinions about news, events, etc.... which includes the head coach of our football team who has recently (and repeatedly) created and encountered drama. Are all opinions about people "wild" unless we know them personally? Seems like a wild criteria to me.
How is it we know minds were changed?
How do we know that the BOR only stepped in because they saw Gundys methods as a problem and not because some members had an axe to grind with him?
Get behind our program or GTFO.

I was able to pay my bills this month, and guess what, I feel like a 3-9 season really isn't too bad.
Also, the three-quarterback system is very underrated.

Not knocking your age, but I wonder if you were around in the before times.
In my 4 years, I had 3 of them with Simmons and 1 with Les. No bowl games and we had to get a tetanus shot when entering the stadium. Bedlam in 2000 was more red than orange.
Some people now say the bowl streak was overrated. It's easy to say when you barely remember when just making one was a really big deal. The change in our culture happened for many reasons but a really really big one was the current HC. I think alot of people forget that.

I’m younger than that. I’ve witnessed the end of Les and all Mike. I’m still with him. What he does off the field is just as important as on, in regards to how our program looks, how clean it is, etc. It’s often very overlooked.
No. He was refusing meetings with Weiberg and then later Weiberg & Shrum together. He hadn’t made any contract concessions or communicated any plans for staff changes.

The spin on this is hard to fathom. People actually thinking Gundy is responsible for all these changes and re-structuring his contract. It's beyond hilarious.
