I have an honest question. We have a statue of Barry Sanders, truly an all time great but an OSU athlete who really just had one legendary year at OSU. I hear a Mike Gundy statue is planned in the future, also a well deserved honor for a great player and our winningest football coach.
My question is why no discussion of a John Smith statue in the main foyer of GIA where wrestling matches are held and where future great Cowboy wrestlers could see and appreciate the magnitude of his accomplishments? He is by far the most decorated and accomplished athlete and coach that ever played or coached at OSU in any sport. Two NCAA Titles, Two Gold Medals and Four World Championships and the winningest coach at the winningest wrestling school in history!
The man deserves a statue honoring his incredible accomplishments to OSU and to Wrestling!
