I’ve been looking back through the pressers. It’s obvious that Gundy’s hair dye changed. Once it changed the team fell apart

It takes MONEY to embrace NIL, and he has excelled at mining the portal. He’s had a significant number of successful portal transfers. You act like he should have this great attitude and ignore the fact that his competition can outbid him for elite players. What do you want him to do, piss a golden stream of money into a bucket. He can embrace it all he wants but if his competition can outbid him then his embracing won’t do a darn thing!

Simply look at what Texas Tech is doing……we’re in big trouble $$$ wise apparently.

As someone else said, our fans stepped up and threw a lot of money at a senior laden offensive line, Ollie Gordon, Nick Martin, etc., and we won three games and went winless in the conference.

I wouldn’t even consider giving money right now to Oklahoma State football for any reason, let alone a bunch of immature 18-22 year olds who don’t perform and could very well leave next year.

Gundy’s years are the ONLY consistently winning years in history minus 2-3 Pat Jones years and the Fenimore years. Is Gundy perfect, hell no! Does he piss people off, he definitely does. Does he often overachieve, he definitely does!

Younger fans who are so certain that what Gundy has done is make us “average” and that we are capable of so much more do not fully grasp just how hard it is to win here. Pretty much nobody has done so in 100+ years minus those Pat Jones years and the 1944 undefeated Fenimore year when half the available players in the country were storming Normandy Beach or fighting on Iwo Jima.

This past year is not hard to figure out. You want to know why Gundy hates the Portal and NIL? It’s because he coaches a program that is in last place in NIL money. He has no bullets in his holster. He tried to help it with the QR code idea and was shot down by the NCAA.

Maybe Zac Robinson comes in and has sustained success but I doubt it, he’ll be an NFL Head Coach soon. The more likely scenario is we kick Gundy to the curb and go back to a coaching carousel existence with a good year now and then and a permanent place as a Big 12 bottom feeder. Those of you who doubt this, some of us have lived it for 30+ years before Gundy. The reason you haven’t lived it is because of Gundy!

How long have you been a sports fan? Teams with lesser budgets beat teams with larger budgets all the time. We did it against Texas somewhat regularly over the last decade, and people credited our amazing coaching for the disparity in results. Yes, it was pre-NIL, but they were still getting all the 4-5 star recruits versus our 2-3 stars. How is it now, suddenly, all about money and NIL, and no team with a lesser budget could possibly compete? What happened to our amazing coaching?

Y'all are drinking some RA-strength Kool-Aid.

It's abundantly clear that Gundy got complacent (or even bitter) towards his vocation years ago, and has been coasting while having Michael Scott levels of self awareness. It's hard to understand how people can't accept that, and continue worshiping him like a god. It's the same groupthink, tribalism we see in politics these days.

And you know this to be 100% factual how? Also, do you know 100% his reasoning behind it if is? Were you in or someone immediately close to you in on the conversations that took place? It could run way deeper than what you’re stating. Personal agendas from boosters could be involved, demanding certain things if they do donate, etc. There’s always more than just surface level when you start getting into people donating lots of money.

Gundy needed to adapt in areas and make some changes. It’s being done and is very apparent. The thing that amazes me is the fact fans who think like you just ignore that we’ve been in the big 12 title game 2 of the last 4 season. If we would’ve been 7-5 or 8-4 in 2021, then had the 2022 season just as it was, then in 2023 finished 6-6 or even 8-4 and finally had this season we just finished, I would 1000000% agree with everything you guys feel. But it’s simply not the case.

And he still won games and had big 12 championship appearances. A majority of these guys are just now starting to fully buy into NIL. Many coaches and Universities were scared to pull the trigger due to uncertainty from above.
