Yeah like bro, THIS IS THE EFFING JOB! NIL, portal, that’s what the job entails. If you don’t want to do the job, meaning ALL of the job then move over and go fishing and hunting and watch your kids play ball while you still can. There’s scores of hungry people that would crawl on their hands and knees to Stillwater for the money and opportunity. And I bet they can at least match 3-9 (0-9).

You don’t seem to grasp the concept of why an OSU coach might not embrace the NIL. It’s pretty impossible to embrace it if you’re in last place in NIL money. Gundy can’t squat down the crap out NIL money, that has to be the boosters. All our big money football boosters are dead. OSU was in last place NIL funds and that’s on us, not Gundy!

He tried to brainstorm the QR Code idea and the NCAA shut that down. Give Gundy Texas, Ohio State or Bama level money and I guarantee you he’d be winning plenty of titles. Clueless fans are sitting around screaming “why doesn’t he go after four and five star players”. Of course he can’t go after those players because there’s no way he can afford them. That’s why he always goes after the diamonds in the rough. In the past, he was able to develop them into seasoned teams like the 2021 team but with the portal, he’s never going to have the time with each player to do that again.

Feel free to keep using Gundy as your scapegoat, but the real culprit is inadequate resources from OSU boosters and since I’m one and I don’t have millions, I’m not going to blame Gundy for those shortcomings. Heck, with his restructured contract, he likely just became the biggest contributor to the NIL coffers!

If you need proof, look no further than our wrestling program, which was deteriorating under the latter years of Coach Smith, not because Coach Smith forgot how to coach, but because of a lack of resources. The Paycom guy stepped in, ponied up big money to get DT, pay wrestlers and start an OTC and now look at where that program is headed! Heck, we’re spending $17K just to fly in Bo Bassett and his teammates to Nationals. It will take something like that to turn the football program around, no matter who’s leading it.

You wonder why Gundy‘s been standoffish and surly, he knows he can’t control those circumstances and I totally understand why that wouldn’t make somebody have an attitude. But by all means, run him out of here on a rail. I’m sure things would just instantly get better with a bright shiny new coach with the same last place NIL funds! Maybe we can turn Bullet into a Unicorn while we’re at it!

Gundy, the BoR, potential coaching hires, coaches that allegedly changed their minds, Shrum, Weiberg, etc…..

This post certainly spiraled. I think boards are the perfect place for hot takes and sports opinions. I've been out on MG for about 5-6 years, and remember specifically telling a friend (UT fan) that we needed to move on because MG would either be good/never great, or eventually run it into the ground because that's who he's proven to be as a coach.

Again, wild opinions are supposed to be made is a message board between dudes that have nothing better to do with their day. My point was more aligned about his character. If you don't know someone personally, or know someone who does, making comments about their character is wild to me.

Houston has a smaller NIL than us and beat TCU, KState and Utah this season, all three beat us some very badly.

If it was just NIL then we wouldn't have dropped off that much this season because we didn't lose too of the depth chart to other programs between seasons. This was a coaching issue on top of NIL.

Our NIL makes it hard but thats not the only issue here.

Gundawg needs to do a LOT more than brainstorm a QR code on helmets (if he really did that). He needs to drop the attitude and embrace the new NIL/portal culture. He needs to excel at it, instead of seeing it as far below his stature.

Until then, he’s a liability.

He should have a great attitude. For one thing, the University made him a very rich man. For another, a good attitude is important for good coaching. Instead of making excuses, he should be meeting with donors and potential donors to get us in the game. Wouldn't you do that for $6 million a year?
