Gundy Not in Trouble….restructuring

3-9, losing 52-0, longest losing streak in school history, ripping angry fans, stubbornly not using the portal (his words), having the worst defense in the nation, repeated stupid coach hires, leaving Nick Martin in to get injured in a blow out (people forget how stupid that was), publicly criticizing the game plan of his assistants when he's the one who signs off on it, yesterday (he had his part in it).....I can go on.

That's a dumpster fire.

Like you said, college football is chaos, and his program today is at the bottom looking up.

I'm watching ISU and ASU play for the league championship--ask yourself what they have that OSU doesn't?
I’m sorry but there’s just no way IMO it can be defined a dumpster fire when Oklahoma State has played for a conference championship twice in the last 4 years.

Yes we have played in 2. The other 2 seasons ended in disaster. (lost 5 of last 7 in 2022).

Both of those championship games ended in embarrassment for OSU. Gundy's OC can't gain 1 yard on 4 chances, the last play actually becomes a meme.

The other we're not even competitive, as has been the case over and over recently. Also lost at home to South Alabama 33-6, as you remember.

The point is, that on December 7 2024, the OSU football program is in really bad shape (how can you argue that\?) and there's one man in charge of it. It's in such bad shape, his administration took an unprecended move to reduce his salary.

I don’t - I think you’ll see something very different. But none out matters if he doesn’t go hit two HR’s with the hires and then wins.
Yep! He can’t miss on these 2 hires. This is the most critical hires of his entire career. Hopefully enough money will be available to get exactly who we want and he allows them to run their systems and he can focus on the other things like running the program. I have faith in Gundy to get it done.

Texas is currently dominating the best conference in football (minus that Georgia loss which they could make up for today). We are not Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State.

I agree this season was awful and Gundy needs to reevaluate himself and the way he runs things. I believe he’ll make the changes necessary to continue to progress and better the program before he’s ready to retire.

We have plenty of money! Dunn made a million dollars last year. We have the highest paid S&C coach in the country.

We agree on the last part for sure. I hope he can do it. I'm not sure he knows how in this new era.

The university and BOR have as much responsibility in this as Gundy does. They approved the contract (year after year) that they now deem is no good. They also allowed Gundy the freedom to do the crap he has done. As his employer they had the power/authority to address him. Now, after a 3-9 year where he was winless in conference they decide (maybe justified) it is no good and to blow it up.

I don’t disagree with your post, but the university and BOR are just as culpable in this train wreck as Gundy. It has been a joint venture in my opinion.

This had be done this way. Gundy would not willingly give a salary cut. No way in hell with his ego.

They had to give him this ultimatum or gundy would just collect his salary and not put any money toward NIL.

Yes, I much prefer Scott to Bill Haisten these days because Bill has turned into the old man who tells you to get off his lawn!
I’m curious as to how you view that he’s created a dumpster fire here? Were we not playing for a big 12 championship this exact time last season? Also, were we not 1 inch away from winning the big 12 championship and a playoff birth 2 seasons ago?

This new landscape of CFB is leading to a ton of chaos each season. Gundy has been spot on with his predictions of how things shape out. You will see teams win 10-12 games and then the next season win 6-7 all the time. CFB is turning into the NFL in a sense, things change so quickly every season.
He literally said he didn’t like the changes and refused to embrace them for two years. That’s not exactly a visionary leader in the landscape you’re talking about.

Not sure what you’re ‘curious about’ following a 3-9, winless conference season with a roster that played for a title the year prior. How bad would it need to be to cause you concern? 1 win, 2?

Seems to me the BoR are cleaning up the mess made by Gundy, Shrum, and Weiberg. Gundy’s actions and public statements were not those of somebody that respects or values the position of HFBC at OSU. Mike basically ran roughshod this year and Weiberg/Shrum were either unwilling or unable to keep him in check. After this year there were only two possible outcomes. Either Gundy had to go, or that contract had to go. It seems like the BoR is going to achieve one of those outcomes. To me they are the only adults in the situation.
Totally fair interpretation. It's pretty tough to get a feel for what is going on. Like most things, it's likely a combo of all of it.
