OSU vs Arizona Official Game Thread

I remember Cal lost just a just everyone in the portal before before the season.

They are 4-1 and tied with Duke right now.

Whoever their coach is has done a great job.
Watch their QB; they are going as he goes right now IMO. Dude is a FR and is really good. He'll be playing elsewhere next year; the big guns will come calling if they aren't already.

We’ll suck next year, but not this bad. Year 2 of coach unnamed will determine our fate if we’ll be relegated out the new college football league.
We were never in. It might not be the next round but it will eventually get to a 22-28 team model. Since like 1980 only 28 teams have finished in the final top 3. Only 19 have been multiple and it is just who you would think it is.

There is no way the final league has Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Minn, Rutgers or Miss St and leaves out FSU and Miami. My guess is 8-10 from each the sec & big10. Throw in ND, FSU, Miami, maybe Clemson (but not both Clemson and SC). I can see Utah or one of the Arizona schools. This thing will be driven by market bc economically it can’t survive.

I even think the tacos are out and schools like Wisconsin, Indiana, Mich St, Arky, Auburn, Kentucky and Mizzery are at risk in the final football only league.

TV/streaming revues will have to go way beyond $250,000,000 per team (NFL is north of $400MM/team and their eyeballs per game blow away even college blue blood matchups)

Players are just getting a taste of real money. They will want more and will unionize.

The good news is that as that league takes shape a true college league will emerge of 80ish teams that will still pay players but will actually be competitive and fair.

To me the quicker we get there the better

Anybody know where I can watch a replay of the game? I was in the bookies with zero cell signal all weekend. I’d like to see what it looked like.

It wasn't awful. Well not weeks 2 and 4 awful. I thought it was interesting that the defense was more willing to play for a guy who was doing offensive quality control last week vs their original DC. We probably would have screamed about it last winter but in hindsight if Gundy had hired Bowen as DC instead of Grantham we would have been way better off.

Not an easy going guy, that's for sure. Is there any coach in the building who demands accountability? Saban put it very simply: Do what you're supposed to do.
Sounds like Grantham...he didn't seem to have those guys humming. Saban left the game because, once the players started making money and could portal out of any situation, being hard core and holding players to task doesn't work like it use to.

Their starter from last year is starting at Indiana & they have Brian Harsin as OC. And Ron Rivera as the GM.

I’d do backflips if our next GM, HC, OC situation looked that good with a freshman.

Let's play a game, how would these teams have gone against THAT Arizona team?

2023 OSU
2021 OSU
2021 team destroys them for sure, 2023 who knows, it would be close either way. I was thinking about the irony and the unbelievability of the situation we’re in. Most of the Gundy teams would completely dominate this years Big 12. For sure the Zac and Dez teams, Weeden and Blackmon, the Rudolph and Washington teams and even the Corndog team would be in the thick of things. We finally find ourselves in the perfect situation league wise and because of the Portal, NIL and a Coach who refused to adapt, we are historically bad. By that I don’t mean historically bad for an OSU team, I mean historically bad in the history of NCAA Division 1 teams all-time!

Unless we make one of the greatest groundbreaking hires in school history, causing donors to come out of the woodwork, I don’t see us being above a .500 team for a loooong time. Heck last year we were a .250 team and this year headed towards a .0833 embarrassment!

The Garmon-Rudolph- Tyreek team would be competitive in this league.

Rudolph would be a Heisman Trophy candidate against this mess the other three years.

Alex Cate may have kept his starting job in this league.

Weeden’s teams would have the Humane Society hyperventilating over the number of miles Bullet would be running due to the video game type scoring on these defenses. Monken’s press meetings would have had new highs for excited cursing. Dan Bailey and Quinn Sharp might have averaged 500 points a year and had freakishly large right legs from all the extra points and kick offs. The guys on the push-up board would look like Mr Olympia and we would learn to count to 50 by halftime as a crowd.

Gundy picked an awful time to pursue his work/life balance experiment.
