Well, and he did it with Rice's players
Also playing against Rice level competition for most of the season. Rice had a midlevel defense. We should be striving for a top 25-40 defense. with a top 10-25 offense. I'd love the other way around, but don't know that we can consistently get the premier level of offensive talent needed. Maybe I'm worng, but offense seems easier to out scheme your talent level, while defense is tied to the jimmies and joes you have.

Not sure the Freedom of information act pertains to state level business…..but I’m certainly not stating that as fact nor is that’s a political post!!

The neighborhood seems to be relying on Reddit quite a bit. 😂
The state version of FOIA, call the Oklahoma Open Records Act, definitely applies to state operations.

FOIA is a federal law apply to federal agencies, but Oklahoma has a state level equivalent.

Exactly what I thought. Thanks for clarifying.

What exactly did paycom offer OU first?
The rumor is that the donor that was instrumental in getting Taylor to OSU (a Paycom bigwig) first tried to get it done at OU, but Taylor had no interest in going to OU.

The donor is not a graduate of OSU (or OU....I think). He's a huge wrestling fan/Taylor fan.

In my quest last night to see if I could find his contract after GeorgiaPoke asked their question, I came upon a legal case from about 20 years ago that stated the contract was public record and had to be released upon request. Now if some person on Reddit can get it I have know clue. Maybe JDcowboy can give a more accurate opinion on this, if as the username suggest they have their juris doctorate. I did find several articles stating that other news organizations had received the contract under the freedom of information act. Just my rabbit while I went down last night. I even went and read the regents minutes from 2021 seeing if there was a copy in the minutes but could only find the vote and some concern on the timing of the vote from 2 regents

JD = Jimmy Dale (my actual name). I am, however, a lawyer. FOIA is federal and doesn't apply to states. Oklahoma has the Oklahoma Open Records Act (ORA) which is similar to FOIA. State contracts are generally open records under ORA.

Well he had the #36 ranked defense this year so that fits your requirements!

When looking at top defenses, you want someone that has been good in multiple categories. The table below is top 35 in YPP, 3dn%, 1dn per game, and punts per score. Looking for teams with all 4, results in 11 teams: Texas, Ohio State, Indiana, Tennessee, Penn St, Notre Dame, N Illinois, Oregon, S Carolina, James Madison, Tulane. If we want a DC, then the guys we can realistically target are at N Illinois, James Madison, Tulane, and MAYBE but unlikely S Carolina and Indiana.

Salaries:
NIU - N Benedetto - $135K
JMU - L Hemphill - $200K
Tulane - G Gasparato - Unknown, made $300K at troy
S Car - C white - $1.2 Mil
Indy - B Haines - $1.02 Mil

I was looking at GJ Kinne at Texas State--they have a better football staff than us from top to bottom! How does that happen?
The same way a lot of things happen... The people who promote and establish leaders simply don't do a good job of picking good leaders. It's an epidemic in all organizations. We promote people based on the wrong criteria, and we get expected results. It's pretty rare for an organization to efficiently identify and promote good leaders.

Point being; no organization (big, small, important, less important, etc...) is immune from making bad leadership choices, and certainly smaller organizations can do better than large ones.

Mack Leftwich is off the table as our OC. He is going to Texas Tech.

Tech has replaced both their coordinators in a short period of time with very good young coaches. Meanwhile, we are playing another game of pocket pool.

Why did Tech need a new OC?

It’s obvious you really don’t have a clue on how to use data in order to make an educated decision. Nowhere in your half baked, shoddy research did I see numbers for shippensburg state and Gannon University. You sir, are a quack and a charlatan! 😀

Flights from SWO to New Orleans today……make of it what you will. But the staff down there has done a very good job turning them around.

Honestly, I think it's because I did most of my excel training in the KD Mezz instead of the basement of the Spears building. Clearly the weirdo playing piano 24 hours a day affected my data analysis abilities!

Is that anything like getting snookered?

Ahhh yes. What a spectacular palace. Myself a denizen of the posh Willham Towers. Explains a lot.

This is a cool post, and probably more advanced than when Gundy Googled our previous coordinators, and it probably took you like an hour or less.
