All goes back to QB and OL/DL play. They had their Heisman run of QBs under LR. He left and they lost Caleb. Then they lose a Heisman finalist in Gabriel. JA was not ready to take over. He should’ve had another year to learn and develop. Plus they lost their star OL to Mizzou. They got hit by attrition pretty hard. It’ll be interesting to see how the come out of it just like us. I just don’t like what I’ve seen the past 2-3 yrs on the recruiting front…
We were dead last in NIL and got what we paid for. No excuses going forward for bad recruiting and portal classes

Not at all. I didn’t bring up ou. People were saying they suck also which is true. I was saying they got depleted but have made a couple splash hires and appear to be recruiting better in the portal. Plus their OC is probably bringing a veteran QB with him. I don’t feel we did. It’s my opinion. We didn’t develop a 2nd QB until week 10. We didn’t make any mid season changes to spark energy. I feel like we can and should be doing more

The comment about Venables was strange. He may very well get fired next season. I do agree he made the right move to get rid of Luttrell and it paved the way for the good OC hire, and Gundy waited too long and made a ho-hum hire, but.....why even mention what OU is doing?
Also, Chandler Morris recently visited. It sounds as though were are definitely trying to get a veteran QB in the portal. OU isn't guaranteed to get Mateer, he hasn't even entered the portal yet. Otherwise, OU hasn't done much; and neither have we.

He was all set to announce a hire on Friday, before the BOR called their meeting. That scared the new OC and he withdrew his name. Because of the BORs actions, we probably missed out on the second and third choices too.

At least we know who to go after on defense next year if we play them. Maybe they get Daniels too and the run it up the middle offense won't look so bad.
So we had all these returning starters last season, and went 3-9, right?
Sometimes it’s addition by subtraction.
With better coaching he will be first team all conference.
