Closing the DoE is another dog whistle to MAGA and evangelicals. What he really means is that he knows what’s in Project 2025 and wants to kill the DoE along w Title 1 money. OK is slated to receive $225,000,000 in Title 1 money this school year. Want more proof these clowns know and are coordinating? It’s the money schools are complaining about that Walters has not told them how much each district will receive.
It can be used for a host of things but it will have the most impact on rural and school districts w poor student populations. It will eliminate after school programs like tutoring. It could impact special education and students w disabilities. Ultimately it will increase student teacher ratios.
I’m all for more local control but do we really trust Oklahoma politicians to act in a students best interest. Especially when that student is already at risk.
I probably go a step further. If you deport 20MM people or even a fraction of that and force the remaining to go into hiding, where are you going to get workers? You need workers willing to do the hard jobs. Well if you don’t educate your masses, you have millions of non skilled laborers simply by cutting education funding.
My wife is a Title 1 instructor at a high poverty rate school, so her paycheck is federally funded. So yeah, the last couple of years haven't been stressful at ALL for us...
It's been pretty awesome for my wife to be entering every summer wondering "is my job going to exist in August?" and even having to text her principal the week before contract to make sure her position was still safe. Sent from my Pixel 6 Pro using Tapatalk

Now why would such a person want control of interest rates?
The Fed put in strict securities ownership rules in 2021 for the Fed governors and senior officials to avoid the appearance of impropriety. Something makes me think that Trump would not be planning on following those rules himself if given control over interest rates.

Of all the concerning things he’s said over the years, this is by far the scariest. We already have a substantial debt problem. Blowing up the dollar as a stable currency would destroy us. Giving Trump the reigns to currency valuation only to use for his short term benefit is a disaster for anyone that has to govern in the wake.

Oh, yeah, Trump did say while president that going with negative interest rates could be a good idea to stimulate his economy. It might make people spend more of their savings. I wonder how many people who love Trump would love to have new charges added on to their checking account when formerly it was free and making a little bit of interest.
