OT: General CFB Thread

Pretty borderline call.
Kevin Mar's crew has been among the worst in the conference since he came into the Big 12.
The Utah AD got fined $40,000 for his antics, which was certainly justified.
I saw a different angle from the stands and it was clear as day holding. It was the right call. I'll try to find the video.

Here it is:

I think HCMG is much closer to this guy than he lets on…..
I could see a lot of coaches (probably more experienced ones) leaving with the new ecosystem. The younger ones that don't know any better will be able to justify and embrace it, but the older ones that know the older way will find it tough to adjust. The system has been broken for a long time, and will remain broken for a while longer. The sport could really suffer in the short-term, more so if you have a wave of experienced coaches leaving the game.

I think Gundy is here for two more years then says goodbye after the 2026 season! Hexwill be close to 60 and I think is close to saying he has had enough! I think he works to.try and hopefully leave the program in decent shape like Bill Snyder did for his successor Chris Klieman, we shall see!!! 🤔

According to a report Thursday from On3, the Michigan football program has offered LSU quarterback commit Bryce Underwood a stunning Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal of four years, $10.5 million to flip to the Wolverines. Underwood is the No. 1 overall recruit for the Class of 2025.

Nothing against the kid, but what happens if he takes the deal and seriously messes up his knee a year after he sets foot on campus? Is it guaranteed money or come with strings attached? Also what happens if it does come with strings attached, him and another guy are in a dead heat for the starting job and the coaches decide to play the guy who has a cheaper NIL deal and use his cash to get a linebacker they really need?

When the UNLV situation came up earlier in the season there was a lot of interesting stuff that came out on these deals. They’re basically all over the map with the conditions you mentioned.

Since the school can’t be the one making the offer, the collectives do the offering. Anyone with a brain knows that the collectives are working directly with the coaching staffs. Just another silly thing in college sports that should change.

Hopefully the reports of a salary cap becoming a reality in a few years comes true. Until then, it’s an MLB salary structure across the board.

Not sure why the kid doesn’t take the money? He needs a lawyer to make the offer enforceable but, money talks at this point. This is what is wrong with “college athletics”.

Heard an interesting discussion on this the other day and how it’s likely to keep some guys, especially QB’s, in college longer.

The gist of it was how the NFL is no longer a league that takes the time to develop a QB. The comparison was a guy like Bo Nix versus an Anthony Richardson or Trey Lantz. The teams are moving off of these guys quickly now, even if they’re high draft picks. Some of them could benefit by simply getting more snaps at the college level and now they can actually do that and make some decent $$$ .

I think a like Gabriel is the current example. I don’t think he’s an NFL starting QB, but playing another year, making good $$$, chasing a heisman & national title are career highs for him most likely.
