Official Game Thread: Oklahoma State vs. Oregon

I'd like to see Gundog more active in pursuing NIL money among donors. It's something Coach Lutz said he would do. It's really the only path forward to success in the NCAA for now.
Wait, pursue NIL money from donors or pursue NIL opportunities as it’s supposed to be and players can go make their own money on their name image and likeness?

That is the whole issue right now in all of college athletics. NIL was never meant to be pay for play and that’s exactly what it became.

Put salary caps and contracts in place and then if players can go make more money securing advertisement gigs, I’m 1,000,000% for it because if they screw up they lose those advertisement gigs and they lose that money. Right now the existing set up is beyond absurd whether you’re UT Martin or Oregon.

A few Ducks for you to keep an eye on: Sadiq TE, just might be the most amazing TE in college football. Dakorian Moore WR true freshman, not only is he a scary good receiver, on a blocking assignment he pancaked a Montana St DB last week. The kid is an amazing talent. A'Mari Washington, 6'3" 320 defensive lineman, the Athletic listed him as one of the top 10 "freaks" in college football.
You have a score prediction, Duck?

It's the game right now, as our Duck friend said. You can either get really good at it and be competitive, or not be good at it and be a cellar dweller.

It’s a stupid world no doubt. But without any guard rails, there’s only about 20 schools total that aren’t gonna be that “celler dweller.”

So you can have a coach who says this is all stupid and I'm above it all. Or you can get a coach who accepts the stupidity and gets really good at playing the stupid game. Which do you want?

I want a system where all of the coaches and players know the rules and all play by the same rules. Then give me that coach you’re talking about that will buy in completely and go maximize his program.

We’re not saying different things, it’s more of a chicken and egg thing right now and we’re losing in that department woefully.

In Ohio at Cuyahoga National Park waiting for the Cowboys to f&$@ up the ducks. We’re also about 20 - 30 minutes from the Pro Football Hall of Fame so after our glorious day of roasting duck I’m going to drive over and genuflect at the shine of Barry Sanders!

Bless you Elon, you weird freak and your stellar StarLink!IMG_1609.jpegIMG_1607.jpeg

But even if you have salary caps, you’ll still have Steve Balmer type situations. Cats out of the bag, the system is broke.

You’re not really saying the same thing though. The world we’re actually living in is different than what we’d all prefer, so Don Quixote doesn’t really work in this environment.

With regards to what you’re talking about with what we’d all agree is truly NIL, I have less than zero faith of any true enforcement of that ever happening. There’s simply no true overriding structure in college athletics with the authority to enforce rules such as this.

Under current rules. No Big 12 will ever win a National championship. That fact makes me care less every year about NCAAF
