OC and DC Possibilities - New DC Todd Grantham, OC Doug Meacham

Yeah, bad feeling this will be a continuation of Dunn. Gundy hiring another old buddy too. Most of the success at TCU came as a co-coordinator and I think Sonny Cumbie was getting most of that credit. He was OC at Kansas and got fired mid season his second year.

Assuming this is the hire, on a scale of 1-10, Grantham for DC was about 5-6, Meacham for OC is about 3-4.

Since he is not a QB coach, I’d bet this means Rattay stays, and apparently he is good friends with Woz. Let’s just hope this doesn’t lead to Dickey being retained.

Uninspiring in my opinion.
Apparently if we want to land Chandler Morris, he would be the guy to help us out per RA.

That kind of softens the blow. Morris would be as good as it gets out of the portal and would help us hopeful land quality receivers.

Out of all the names mentioned though, I like this one the least. 10 years ago I would have been ecstatic but this seems really underwhelming. Can't do any worse than last year though.

Someone needs to uncover which OC was on board before the BOR mess.

Does anyone really feel inspired and excited about both these hires, I know it can't get any worse than Nardo or Dunn, but these 2 guys

Sure hope the new coordinators are on 1 year contracts or have small buyouts so we can replace next year if they do turn out to be meh.

The problem with this hire is that it didn’t necessitate waiting this long to announce it. That makes me think we had targeted other people (ZRob, Marion, etc) and we got turned down.

The people comparing Meacham to Dunn need to stop. Dunn had ZERO playcalling experience. He was promoted to prevent him leaving. Meacham has the experience. Yeah, he didn’t do well at Kansas, but very few coaches have and those that did have success there struggled to replicate it when leaving. Our fans aren’t accounting for how much Gundy’s offensive philosophy has changed over the last decade, a decade where Meacham wasn’t here to witness. I think Meacham will bring more of what we used to see here- fast pace of play, QB involvement in the run game, etc.

It’s not a sexy hire, but he’s an OSU guy, who has ties to our biggest recruiting grounds, and has playcalling experience. It’s a decent hire.

Unless it’s only slightly better and you’re locked in to another 3 years and another buyout.

I'm not going to be negative about guys who haven't even started yet. However, let's just say that my excitement level going into next season isn't exactly going off the charts.
