Gundy Not in Trouble….restructuring

All of this is on Gundy and his asinine ego and comments. He brought all of this on himself.
Meh. I agree that his ego, comments, and performance haven't been good, but also believe the BOR has (seemingly) handled this really poorly/unfairly.

Seems like Shrum and Weiberg are the only adults in this situation. Do they not have any influence?

Yeah, you’re lost it in the first sentence with ‘most credibility in this situation’, but I don’t know you, maybe you weren’t around with the Les Miles situation.

Robert is the local Homer whose bread is buttered by the local coach using him as an outlet, at the coaches’ discretion. Gundy will feed him what he thinks is useful for his position, period, & Robert will tow the line accordingly.

It’s a transactional relationship, & Gundy always has all the leverage and they both know it. Just like the time RA’s signing day show at Chris’ University Spirit was all set for Gundy’s usual appearance and he threatened not to appear over something RA said that he didn’t like.
I was around then as well, don’t recall Robert being the mouth piece he seems to be now. Didn’t say I was a fan, said most creditable as he is likely much closer to the situation than any one of these other folks posting about the situation. Is he making it seem better, I am sure he is. I just think there were enough reports of Weiberg and Schrum not looking happy after they left the executive session, there is likely a lot of truth to what he is reporting. Homer sure that is his job but, he likely does all the inside info and shares what he is allowed/told to share.

Put the shovel down, please.

You sound like RA’s sock account.

If Gundy has actually coached his last game here, then I'll be sad. I'll be sad for how it ended after he has been the face of this program for the past 20 years. I'll be sad that it was 90% his fault. I'll be sad that he fell victim to his own ego. If he was done, he could've and should've gone out on his own terms. Instead, we all suffered through this season- his name, Dunn's, and Bowman's all dragged through the mud. Who knows what this season did to Nardo's career. It likely cost Gordon a first round selection, which is millions of dollars he's lost out on. It sucks that it had to play out like this.

It's also surprising just how many OSU fans think that losing Gundy will set our program back. We can achieve the same level of success without Gundy as we did with him, if not more. Where Gundy has been a great coach, he's been a collosal disappointment in some key areas. He has 1 CCG win. A losing record against our rival. Declining results on the field over the past 7 years when compared to the 10 years prior. Declining results on the recruiting trail. We'll never know how much of our success was Gundy and how much of that was other factors, such as hundreds of millions of dollars coming into the program. Certainly, he won't be easy to replace, but it's not an impossibility. Let's see what someone new can do. Someone who has the fire to coach and build their legacy instead of someone who's been coasting on theirs. I don't know what the results will be, but I can assure you that it can't be much worse than going 3-9 and 0-9 in conference after returning a roster that had played 90% of the snaps from a 10 win season the year prior.

LOL. Yeah, at LSU Miles rode Saban's momentum to a championship and then started on a downward spiral.

MIles also sexually harassed students.
Miles, without question, established what Mike inherited.

Miles came in after Simmons had bottomed out and the program had no direction. The guy beats OU in Norman with a 3-7 team a year later and denies them a Rose Bowl. Dismissed as a fluke, beats them the next year too and leads the team to the Cotton Bowl and loses in a shootout to Eli & Ole Miss.

Leads a team with a Fr QB to an Alamo Bowl the next year, T Boone’s investing, & Mike’s the golden boy alum OC seen as the prodigy. Les is a hot commodity and leaves for LSU.

Les Miles could fn coach, and had a huge hand in the development of this program, don’t get it twisted.

And you don’t want to go down that other road.

Very well reasoned.

Well said. 19 years and 1 Big XII championship. One.

It is a most depressing prospect that we'll have another decade of consistency -- i.e., the average guy's hall of fame.

Let's roll the dice. Yes, it's possible that we'll get a coach with worse results. It may be that Gundawg is the best this University's football team can do. But it's also possible that we'll get a coach who lives and breathes winning and can take us to the promised land. Chad has already shown he can find great coaching. So I'm ready for a new era. I for one am sick of consistency.

Dave Arranda has a big 12 title.

Matt Campbell or Kenny Dillingham will have one tomorrow.
