Gundy Not in Trouble….restructuring

It is undoubtedly a MASSIVE mistake! Barring a groundbreaking hire like Zac Robinson we are in for a return to pre-Gundy mediocrity.
He’s a coach, not a messiah.

He also just authored absolute mediocrity with a team picked to contend for a title.

So the whole Nobody Else Can Win Here! crowd can pipe down a bit and recognize the coach we’re talking about Today. For godysakes, Sonny Dykes took TCU to a title game after Patterson elevated them from the MWC to the top of the Big 12. Matt Rhule brought Baylor back from the Briles saga.

They’re not tearing down the stadium and facilities for the next coach and just saying ‘good luck’ coach. This isn’t 2002.

I'm in the camp that generally dislikes a lot of what Gundy does, but it seems bush league for the BOR to give him like 4 hrs to make this big of a decision.

All of this is so bizarre.w
Does anyone think that they may have talked with him before hand, like he has had severals days to actually think about it?
Exactly. I don’t think for a second that there’s been no discussion until today.

I love Z-Rob and pray he’s the future. But as of right now, he’s not ready to be handed the keys to the program. He has yet to coach at the college level. It’s a completely different game than the NFL. NFL is strictly coaching, so much more in college. He needs to get a dose of what it’s like at this level and what is required before becoming the HC, which I don’t know if he’s willing to do.

A “coach in waiting” is the ideal scenario while running the offense. Problem is learning bad habits from the wrong guy.

Unrelated - something really stinks with all of this. Regardless of where you sit, take a step back and look at it macro…..WTF is going on?!?!

That was my hope was that Gundy could get him in here as OC and “head coaching in waiting” and then in a few years hand the reins to him!

As I have been reflecting today with the train wreck that we are watching and I can't look away, I am beginning to wonder if there is not a lot more going on between Gundy, BOR, and admin. Seems like this thing has gone nuclear in 0.2 seconds but more than likely there is much more to this saga

I agree. A good coach though will have learned some good things from every HC he’s worked under. Gundy has way more good to pass on to Z-Rob than bad. I think Z-Rob is smart enough to keep what he’s learned under others and only take the good from Gundy. Which would provide great results I would think!

Exactly. This escalated way too quickly. There's gotta be way more to it than what's been reported today.

1000%

It became apparent to me that I needed some BOR education and talked to some people who have a little knowledge of some of that. I came away from those conversations unsettled and didn’t get the warm fuzzies that everyone was rowing in the same direction,
