Trump 47

EXCLUSIVE: The Trump administration has acknowledged that it grabbed a Maryland father with protected status and mistakenly deported him to El Salvador—but claims that courts are powerless to order his return, Nick Miroff reports:

This isn’t a bug or error in their system.

It’s a feature.

I’m kind of shocked they admitted it that easily. It will continue to occur.

Lets make some predictions so we can compare notes when all is said and done. I don't mind being called whatever but I'm going to reserve the right gloat a little when I'm right in a few years.

1. Immigration: Not going to cut off the economy like many feared. We will get rid of enough bad guys to make some news stories. Border is going to tighten.
2. Food Prices: Going to continue to slide but nothing major.
3. Tarriffs: Going to have a sharp immediate negative impact but will be nothing more than companies taking advantage. We will gain some trade wins. Actual impact of the Tariffs will be a fraction of what people are making it out to be. I'd rather we not take this path but its not going to be that bad.
4. Stock market is going to be just fine after #3 cools down. By the time this admin is out everyone will be happy.
5. Doge: Will ultimately move the needle some. I've already admitted we did it the wrong way.
6. Ukraine ceasefire happens this year.
7. There is no third term.
8. Democracy will still be here in 2028
9. First amendment rights will still be a thing.
10. Everything is going to be just fine.
11. Some of you guys are going to freak out the entire time.
1. what does ´we will get rid of enough bad guys to make some news stories´ mean? foxnews will report to their sheep that we are ridding our country of ´bad guy´ illegals? What about all the innocent, good, hard working people?? I agree that the border will tighten.
2. food prices are going to continue to slide??? food prices are NOT sliding, and this was a BIG talking point of tRump...even having a visual display of groceries...my maga friends were constantly saying grocery prices are unacceptable and tRump WILL change that...welp, it ain´t happening and I don´t see any sign of it happening....
3. tariffs, the way tRump is using them WILL NOT work...all he is doing is making $h!t more expensive and alienating other countries...
4. stock market will indeed be ok after tariffs cool down (no $h!t, cuz his tariff plan is horrible!)
5. Doge is finding so much ´fraud´ that NO ONE is being charged with fraud, just firing thousands of Americans!
6. quite possible it happens this year...far cry from day one of his presidency that he said...btw, bipolar guy gets mad at both dudes on a daily basis at the drop of a hat...
7. no third term...he will be gone or in a ´home´ by then
8. Democracy will be here, but severely damaged!
9. First Amendment Rights are/will be a thing, just severely damaged!
10. Everything is going to be just fine in 4 years
11. Some of you guys will continue to defend this clown the entire time.

Trump commutes sentence of Jason Galanis , serving 14 years after being convicted of fraud for defrauding Native Americans and other investors. BUT he aided GOP effort to impeach Biden

Trump to nominate former and disgraced Republican congressman rejected by GOP voters to be Inspector General to the Dept of Labor

The White House still needs to replace many of the IGs who Trump ousted

The Politico reports that D’Esposito might be an “awkward fit” for the position

The New York Republican arrived on Capitol Hill in early 2023, and it didn’t take long for the congressman to run into some trouble. Indeed, The New York Times reported in September 2024 that D’Esposito hired his fiancée’s daughter to work as a special assistant in his district office, paying her $3,800 a month in taxpayer money. Around the same time, the GOP congressman also reportedly added his mistress to his official payroll, generating a series of questions about the legal and ethical lines he apparently crossed.

The Times’ report, which was not independently verified by MSNBC or NBC News, added that his fiancée eventually found out about the affair and briefly broke up with him, at which point the New York Republican stopped paying both women.

D’Esposito didn’t explicitly deny the accuracy of the reporting, though he did issue a statement that read in part, “My personal life has never interfered with my ability to deliver results for New York’s 4th district, and I have upheld the highest ethical standards of personal conduct.”

This was not persuasive to his constituents: D’Esposito, after having served just one term, lost his re-election bid in his competitive Long Island district.

I'm sure you know this because of your extensive international contacts and experience in foreign relations.

Economic instability is the number 1 way to topple a government. And you don't even have to invoke Godwin's law: Lenin, Napoleon, Mao, Caesar, Mehmed II (and the fallout of countless North and South American civilizations that were eventually destroyed), Gaius Marius, Pompey the Great - the list goes on. Every last one of them was the direct result of a drastic economic change that happened in a short period of time. And the people suffered for it.

Screwing around with the global economy is probably the most dangerous thing Trump is doing right now. Long story short - you don't know what impact this will have. You are hoping the impact will be a fraction of 'what people are making it out to be'. And hope is a terrible political strategy.

Yeah, if extensive international contacts and or experience was a requirement to provide an opinion here this thread would be one post long and it would read NA.

We will see how it goes.

The U.S. and other have worked for years to isolate China because of their unfair labor practices.

Now with him in charge for a couple of months that is all gone.

Would love to get @Rob B. and @Stillwaterman take on this.

If you are making moves that benefit your adversaries - you're probably making the wrong moves.

Whose lives have gotten objectively better in the last few months? My stocks and crypto have taken a massive dive. Groceries are still going up (which really, really sucks when you own a restaurant). And some of my closest non-straight friends are afraid every day. But I guess we've gotten the gulf of america, a bunch of lib tears, and threatened some of our closest allies with annexation.

I'm not sure Vigo Carpathian could handle the levels of hate going on right now.

If it sucks owning a restaurant due to grocery prices, it must have been horrible in 2022 and 2023.

What specifically are your non-straight friends afraid of every day? Is it caused by actually something occurring to them or is their anxiety increased due to continual gloom and doom from some media sources?

Kudos for Ghostbuster reference.

REPORTER: You said you saw evidence that this man was a convicted gang member. In what court?

LEAVITT: If you just saw the headline from the insane failing Atlantic magazine this morning, you would think this individual was father of the year
