Trump 47

Directly to some kids he said the following

1. Joked they could sell his autograph for money

While sitting with children at an arts-and-crafts table, Trump told them:

  • “I could sign autographs for you guys. And then tonight, you could sell them for $25,000 on eBay.” [foxnews.com], [people.com]
When kids excitedly asked him to sign their drawings, he did so and continued joking.

2. Joked he could claim a child’s drawing as his own

After looking at one of the drawings, Trump said:

This drew laughter and excitement from the children sitting with him.

3. Talked to the children about Joe Biden and an “autopen”

Trump then shifted into criticizing former President Joe Biden, speaking directly to the kids, saying Biden used a machine to sign documents:

  • “Biden would use the autopen. He was incapable of signing his name, so they’d follow him around with this big machine. You know what it was called? An autopen.” [people.com], [nbcnews.com]
He repeated the point:

  • “He’d take the paper, hand it to his guys, sign it with an autopen and give it back. That’s not too good, right?” [people.com]

While in the vicinity of Kids but not talking directly to them but talking so they could hear

Used Profane and aggressive language while children were present

Shortly before and during the event, Trump addressed families—including children—from a balcony

Discussing war and military danger near children

Trump also referenced recent military actions and hostile territory (Iran), discussing rescue missions and dangers while children were playing on the lawn

Why it was considered inappropriate
Critics pointed to four main issues:

  1. Political attacks spoken directly to children
  2. Adult political allegations explained in child settings
  3. Use of profanity during a family event
  4. Self‑promotion and praise in a children’s context
Even fact‑checking outlets concluded the remarks were accurately reported and occurred with children present, though reactions varied by political perspective. [hellomagazine.com]
I posted the video here.
For the love of God, I thought the Curb Your Enthusiasm theme music was starting to play at the end of this clip.

I'm not sure I trust the White House physician to do this.
I'm met some prior White House physicians who were great docs. This one might be also. But Trump's first doc was Jackson and he was pure MAGA to the point it tainted his medical opinion. No idea if this guy is.

Second, he is an ER doc. Diagnosing dementia isn't something we do formally regularly. Making the most important diagnosis of dementia in the world today really should be done by a team of expert neurologists.

Does Walter Reed have such a team?
