Remain Calm All Is Well GIF

Apathy and complacency are next door neighbors to complicity.

It’s just what they do. Some are easily offended and/or upset…………..when it is done by someone not from their political side.

Oddly, most of the issues listed …immigration, direction of country, prices of groceries, Middle East, Ukraine, and women’s rights would be things those on the right could complain about during the previous administration.
You whine about getting zzzz’d. Snowflake.

tRumpsters, what are you/they satisfied/unsatisfied with the job he is doing so far? immigration? economy? direction of country? prices of groceries? Ukraine? Middle East? are you in favor of a third term? womens rights? trans rights? dismantling of government departments and jobs?
I seriously want to know how you feel about these issues, because all I see is America going backwards...I suppose I can see how you might be happy with immigration, although some of the methods and results are appalling...the economy is not good...grocery prices are still high...Ukraine/Russia war rages on...as does the Middle East conflict...and a third term? wtf...womenś rights are going backwards...trans rights?...musk is unhinged...
besides the issues I brought up, what is good about his administration thus far?
How to admit you're a closet Magastani without actually saying it.

Lets make some predictions so we can compare notes when all is said and done. I don't mind being called whatever but I'm going to reserve the right gloat a little when I'm right in a few years.

1. Immigration: Not going to cut off the economy like many feared. We will get rid of enough bad guys to make some news stories. Border is going to tighten.
2. Food Prices: Going to continue to slide but nothing major.
3. Tarriffs: Going to have a sharp immediate negative impact but will be nothing more than companies taking advantage. We will gain some trade wins. Actual impact of the Tariffs will be a fraction of what people are making it out to be. I'd rather we not take this path but its not going to be that bad.
4. Stock market is going to be just fine after #3 cools down. By the time this admin is out everyone will be happy.
5. Doge: Will ultimately move the needle some. I've already admitted we did it the wrong way.
6. Ukraine ceasefire happens this year.
7. There is no third term.
8. Democracy will still be here in 2028
9. First amendment rights will still be a thing.
10. Everything is going to be just fine.
11. Some of you guys are going to freak out the entire time.

1. Immigration: non-bad guys will get swept up. Citizens, and people legally here are going to have their due process rights violated. Permanent residents having committed no crime are going to have their green card revoked and similarly situated immigrants legally here are going to have their visas revoked, Folks like you will call that no big deal because it’s not happening to you.

2. Food prices: are going to increase, but it’s nothing major to you because you can afford it.

3. Tariffs: Going to increase prices, is going to drop stock market value, isn’t going to increase US manufacturing capacity by any significant amount in the next four years. what you define as “not that bad” will be devastating for others. You’re okay with that because it’s not devastating to you.

4. The stock market will regain the highs of Biden by the end of Trump’s admin. Little to no growth along with increased costs will not make everybody happy at the end of the four years.

5. Doge: will claim to move the needle some, but will have no proof of moving the needle. Government deficits will continue to increase and Elon will have a boatload of new government contracts.

6. Ukraine: saying ceasefire happens this year says nothing about the terms of the ceasefire being fair and just and anything other than capitulation to Russia. You’re okay with that because it’s not happening to you.

7. There is no third term, I agree.

8. Democracy will still be here in 2028. The Republic will survive. Trump loses both houses of Congress in mid-term and plenty of people blatantly get their rights violated in the next four years. You’re okay with that because you aren’t the one having his rights violated.

9. The first amendment will still “be a thing”, but plenty of 1st Amendment rights will be violated in the next four years. You’ll be fine with that because it ain’t your rights getting violated.

10. Complacency is next to complicity. Just because it doesn’t happen to you doesn’t make “everything fine”.

11. Nobody here is “freaking out”. Everybody is discussing politics….on a politics board. Pointing out that the President is saying and doing some crazy ass crap (and he is) isn’t “freaking out”. And they’re being no more freaked out than other posters from MAGAland were about Biden.

Nothing happens to me. Nothing affects me. I don't even exist.

I'm disgusted by what a horrible country we are turning into.

As predicted our new found isolationism has created a huge void in the world. Want to guess who is filling that void and getting the good will?

We have not sent a single person or dog to Burma.

But the 50% of the population love this.

Pure evil

More evilness for ya

Hundreds of Afghanis who aided our soldiers over the years have been given approval to come to America. Risked their lives for our soldiers and country.

Trump has canceled it and they are pretty much waiting to be killed by the Taliban.

At the same time Trump has set up a office to help Afrikaans(Boers) immigrate to America. These are same evil racist who invaded the country and implemented Apartheid.

Yep, white racist over brown hereos.

So, we disagree on #2, #3, #4, and #11. Not as far apart as I thought. You kind of changed a few up a bit....ok. But 2-4 are non-subjective and we can measure those....

#2-you saying “nothing major” is completely subjective

#3- “some trade wins” and “a fraction of what people are making it out to be” is also completely subjective

#4 stock market being “just fine” is completely subjective

Truth be told, you didn’t make any hard predictions with any objective economically measurable criteria to determine accuracy or validity.

What is clear to me with this little exercise is that you are focused on economics and the financial effects that will affect you directly. I’m not. In fact, that is pretty much the least of my concerns.

I’m a white cis-gender straight male upper middle class early Gen-Xer/Generation Jones demographic dude. You and I are both going to skate through this administration without a mark.

We probably aren’t going to have our rights attacked or violated. That doesn’t mean that I’m not concerned that others are being severely affected and I will continue to object to and point out the rights violations of others and other illegal, IMO immoral, crazy conduct by this or any other administration.

Watching all these @#$&ers on both sides like a hawk and always questioning authoritative exercise of power over individuals is always the sane, rational, patriotic thing to do as far as I’m concerned.

#1 Citizens and people who have been living here for decades doing nothing wrong losing due process rights should be a big deal to us all. Sure, as a white guy we have little to worry about, but that really should not be what drives us to be concerned about such things.

My talking points were pulled from P5s posts. But fair enough. I'm for complete due process on question #1 and #9. The financial questions are all big talking points on here, I just have a more positive outlook. The end of democracy stuff is overplayed by both sides (when not in power) and I'm just not buying in.

If Stillwaterman had full control, we would secure the boarder (we just have to) and offer an easier path to citizenship for those who have established a life here.

There is a whole lot of room between “end of democracy” and “everything is fine”.

It’s not a binary position point.
