Top 5 new football coaches

You never know when you hire a coach. They may be good or bad. But if you hire a good coach who is successful without ties, he goes to better program which is very disruptive to program. If you hire guy with ties who want to be at OSU, maybe you get long run with him (as we did with Gundy). Old stock trading saying, "cut your losers short and let your winners run." Hiring someone who want to be at and stay at OSU gives you that option.
I’ve hired lots of teachers and coaches and I always went after the best I could possibly get. If you just go with the home town alum you limit yourself and it will cause a deformed culture. Best examples are Mike Gundy, Josh Holiday and Sean Sutton

There's a reason ZRob is an Offensive Coordinator at his age. You're looking at 3 games of a season, at the highest level of football, with a first year starter at QB.

Why don't you look at his body of work. Last year, in his first year, the Falcons had a top 6 offense. The year before, the Falcons were 17th. Before that, he spent 5 years under one of the best head coaches in the NFL, spending all of his time on offense and 4 of those years coaching the most important position on the field, QB. He may not be the most qualified, but the NFL sees enough to give him opportunities. I don't see why we shouldn't give him an opportunity, either. Especially if we can support him with a GM type role who can oversee the administrative stuff.
Massive difference between being an NFL OC and a P4 HC.

…And here’s Jenni with the ‘No $hit?!’ column.

My god, I’d forgotten how pitiful the OK sports media is.

Sorry, that’s loser mentality. Well never know who’s going to stay or go. We need to hire the best possible candidates we can and see what happens.
I’d prefer guys that Ohio State and Oregon come knocking for. That means we’re doing something very right. But I’d also add some new buyouts for my assistants. Those buyouts would be very clear too. The larger buyout amount is only in play if you get hired away and choose to leave. Not if you don’t perform and get canned.

Zero downside to interview him. Hell we flirted with Doug multiple times and he still had never coached at the time.
