Sunday Morning Coaches: The Final Bedlam Edition

You know what, I didn't want him. After the three-headed monster, I didn't think he was the best of the three and I argued against him. But over this stretch, this unprecedented turn around he has show real leadership both on the field and, from what I hear, in the locker room. So, right here, right now I'm admitting I was completely wrong. I love this guy.

Ride with Pride! Go Pokes! And, Mr. Bowman, you are Loyal and True!
My only real complaint is I wish he wouldn't bail back/sideways in the pocket so often and quick. Theres multiple times each game he could squeak through a gap in the line and pick up a few yards scrambling instead of just throwing it away. No he's not a rushing threat, but he's not wounded duck waddle Peyton Manning either. He got a TD yesterday on that exact play, try it more often my man!

I was saying to myself all week that because every one is focusing on Gordon the real key to the game would be Bowman and the WR’s. Several wr’s hurt..could Presley have a big game, Leon Johnson looked great against Cincy could he do it again? Both of those guys had good games. Presley had several timely catches that moved the chains. What I didn’t count on was Rashod Owens slapping his 10lb d!#k on the table and having the game of his life! What a performance!

Bowman hasn’t been with us very long but he’s earned a special place in our hearts. Last night giving interviews he was wearing a Josh Fields #13 jersey. He just gets it man. He gets rid of the ball quick and didn’t throw any INT’s. Sometimes I wish he’d climb the pocket and deliver..he has a tendency to run backwards and throw off his back foot. Usually that’s when he’s throwing it away. It can be frustrating but it’s better than an interception. He gets the game ball IMO. All time performance for him. He’ll live in Bedlam lore with Fields and Rudolph.

Ollie had a good game…honestly he seemed banged up. I’m fine with the trick play..it’s bedlam after all, but he’s gotta know if the play isn’t there just run or throw it out of bounds. The kid was just a little too excited and tried to do too much. Ultimately he had 130 yrds and 2 td’s. When everyone was keyed on him and he was banged up. Great game.

On one of the 4 th and short Ollie had blockers in front of him and was going to get the first down and likely more…the backside D End crashed down and just followed the linemen pulling towards Ollie and tackled him from behind. You’ve got to account for backside players. You can’t just leave them untouched like that. I liked going for it at the time, glad it didn’t hurt us in the long run that we didn’t convert.

Here’s a fun fact..in the 5 game winning streak we are on Bowman has only been sacked 1 time. ONE single time. Cheers to the OLine. What a turnaround season they have had. It was tough sledding yesterday but they performed well and we got the dub. I hope Dickey takes them all to Cherokee Strip and let’s them go nuts. They’ve earned it.

Finally, I’d like to talk about Gundy. I think yesterday was a legacy changing game for him. His coaching record at OSU is exemplary. His only blemish has been Bedlam. I don’t want to rehash it all….but yesterday our guys took the field and were confident and motivated, and stepped up to win. Our coaches had a great plan, made adjustments and put the kids in a position to win and they did. All of that is because of Head Coach Mike Gundy. Our Captain. He’s driven me crazy a few times over the yrs and as recently as a couple of months ago. Every time I’ve started to count him out he’s come roaring back. We truly are blessed to have him warts and all. Thanks Coach Gundy.

Yeah- but he's got a history of injuries. Live to fight another play is not a bad moto!

Just curious how many OU “fans” were in attendance. I didn’t see the game, just had to follow the score on internet. About had a stroke doing that. Sounds like it was a helluva game.

Sounds like the goal posts took a swim in Theta Pond full of OU tears. I love that, but hate hearing someone got injured.

I said before the game that our coaching staff’s culture gave us an advantage bc venebles can’t keep it in check. This is 2 weeks in a row that he has picked up a dead ball 15 yard unsportsmanlike on top of a live ball 15 yard penalty on the game winning score. Gundy and staff simply > Venebles and staff on in game management. Also can someone/anyone make their S&C coach act like a grown ass man and quit chirping at opposing players in game?

I also have wondered all week if the new era transfer portal would impact the attitudes of players in this game. Bowman, Josiah, Leon, Goodlow none of them have grown up in the shadow of uo. None of them had to deal w uo in recruiting. None of them ever gone against uo for us before. There was no bedlam baggage or squinty for them.

BPS was unbelievable. The pregame crowd was as loud as I’ve ever heard it. The energy continued. The bad snap that we recovered in the 2nd half and led to the 3 pt difference was a direct result of the noise.

And finally if any uo family members or friends want to talk about the missed PI in the endzone

1) uo held our receivers/TE all night
2) Now that you’re on our end of bedlam how’s it feel bitches?
Missed holding on a run that led to their first score, several missed pi calls on ou, and at least one facemask I saw on replay. They aren't the previous perfect football team they want everyone to think. And it WASN'T THE REFS.

Just a quick question. Does anyone know where to watch an actual replay of the game that would show crowd shots? I want to see a lot of the student section and fan reactions from during the game. I think that would just add so much more to watching it.

Great job yesterday! Hopefully there isn’t a hang over to next week. Of the games left, next week is the one that scares me the most. We should win but we’ve all seen that story before. We win next week there’s a pretty good chance we go into the BYU game with a championship spot locked up.

Can't say enough how proud I am of this team, wow. Could've packed it in and muddled through the rest of the season following those two losses, but here we are with a shot at playing for a Big 12 Championship. Still don't think we have much margin against anyone left of the schedule so we'll need to keep bringing it every week.

Coaches poll has us at #17 a spot behind the gooners we just best lmao what a buncha chodes
bUt YoU lOsT tO sOuTh AlAbAmA! So stupid. This team was clearly struggling to find their identity early in the season and got got. They have found it now but keep underestimating them. Worked out so far

Agreed. This tendency to bail to the right has also led him straight into pressure coming from the right, vs. stepping up in the pocket to buy another second or two.

In the end though, it's an incompletion at least and not something he's trying to force in there.

I think after the job the coaches have done getting us to this point, I don't think they will let the team go into next week's game with an emotional let down. They'll have the team ready to play. Gundy talked about it in the post-game press conference.
