I expect my property (or other) taxes will go up to compensate and continue school funding - that is assuming our state actually takes much from federal DOE. But I live in a blue state where public education is very important, and one that is already getting ready to push back on Trump (state is hiring lawyers experienced in federal litigation so we will not be high on his list of states to help).
OK and certain other states seem to see public education as an afterthought in funding and priority.
There is also concern here over pledged funding for a recent MAJOR bridge that got collapsed by a container ship and other infrastructure projects partially funded by the Inflation Reduction Act. The pick and chose what states to help is such crap.
I've read a lot of pros and cons of dissolving the DOE...I am initially leary of stuff that certain people get too excited about (ryan)...would be interested to hear what people in education (primary, secondary, and higher) feel about this...

it could be handled more efficiently at the state level, local autonomy, reduce federal spending, reduce red tape, "clean up" student loans ...mostly to give states more control...(that frightens me in OK)
