I don't know what's better. Trump's "uhhhhh" as he does anything possible to not call Putin a dictator or Macron's reaction... Whoever was filming this was a genius. Lol.
Agree completely for multiple reasons.Or they don't want to divulge sensitive information to someone who isn't their boss and runs a program that has issues keeping private data private. Plus, they don't know the intent. Send something too vague and your job is useless. Send something too detailed and you are a security risk. If I knew the CEO wanted to fire me because of reasons that had nothing to do with my performance and the VP of HR who I don’t really trust said sent out an email saying do this or else, I'm talking to my boss before I even think about responding.
So the email requesting the 5 bullet points is no one checking? Seems like lots of people don't want anyone checking.
Hegseth and DOD has advised their employees not to respond to the 5 bullet points email. So the email requesting the 5 bullet points is no one checking? Seems like lots of people don't want anyone checking.
So Trump said these 5 bullet points would then be used to put into Musk's AI and then the AI would determine if the Job was relevant or if the Person was Relevant. So the email requesting the 5 bullet points is no one checking? Seems like lots of people don't want anyone checking.
With the major agencies (DOJ, DOD, State) telling their employees to not respond to OPM/DOGE's "respond or be fired" bullet points email, the employees are being given a real Hobson's choice....don't respond and subject yourself to OPM/DOGE firings or do respond and subject yourself to firing by your agency head for insubordination.Agree completely for multiple reasons.
Compilation of information is a serious concern in certain instances. Sending responses to a vague question may be fine for one person, but a major problem for everyone in the federal government, especially DOJ, DOD, State, DOE etc.
Where is that information going and who is looking at it?
Do they have any idea of what anything I do means?
How secure is the response?
The answers to the above are probably why several departments said, DO NOT RESPOND.
AI doesn't know anything if it hasn't been trained on the data type/set. How did they train an AI algorithm to determine what is relevant and important for EVERY role in every agency across the federal government? So Trump said these 5 bullet points would then be used to put into Musk's AI and then the AI would determine if the Job was relevant or if the Person was Relevant.
Seems NO ONE is Checking ANYTHING if the answers are going into an AI .
So tell me. What Makes this AI better at making this decision....than an actual Human Being ?
Please explain to me in DETAIL how the AI works and How it will use these 5 bullet points to determine to cut a Department or to cut a Headcount. Be Thorough please so I can explain to folks I know who lost their Job why this AI knows better than their Bosses.
And what are the primary reasons to be probationary? If I have any buddies who aren't doing their job they deserve to be fired...
Rumors are not helpful. Here are the facts:
The probationary (non-mission critical) workforce order anticipates 5,400 probationary workers will be released nationwide this week out of the military’s roughly 950,000 civilian employees.
In total, DOD plans to reduce the civilian workforce by 5-8% as part of the President’s goal to reform the federal workforce to maximize efficiency and productivity.
Either/orAnd what are the primary reasons to be probationary?
Perfect. Could go in Health Going Backwards as well.
You are new.Either/or
To see if the employee will perform as needed.
To protect established workers.
and how exactly does AI determine that based on 5 bullet points ?Either/or
To see if the employee will perform as needed.
I'm retired. It feels like a promotion. You are new.
Or you got promoted.
So they are firing new people (maybe not unreasonable but given the hiring freeze most new people were in short staffed areas) or they are firing people who were good enough to get promoted to a new job.
The idea that this is in any way getting rid of poor performers is not realistic. Pretty much doing the opposite since poor performance tends to not get promoted.
I would hope managers would do so before AI finalizes anything.and how exactly does AI determine that based on 5 bullet points ?
I would hope managers would do so before AI finalizes anything.
What may normally happen is not what is happening now.I'm retired. It feels like a promotion.
I used temps->probationary-> permanent and it worked wonderfully.
I'm pretty sure union's use probationary to weed out unfit while protecting established members.
Poor performers were never advanced past temp or probationary.
Because of years of conditioning by far right at the government lazy people that are stealing their taxes. Why is the default opinion that every gov employee does nothing? That's crazy. Are there lazy people there, sure but to say EVERY one if them is worthless in their role.... come on.
The language that is being used is just like that for every other group MAGA attacks. Dehumanize and vilify everyone in the group across the board without exception
