You and I want the same things for all our programs, but sometimes we disagree on how to get there.Touché.
Much respect for this post Dx, I appreciate the insight. As I’ve stated in the past, I became old enough to follow Oklahoma State in a real sense around the time Les was about to take over. All I’ve really known is Gundy leading Oklahoma State football. I hate the thought of him leaving/finishing on bad terms like it nearly happened a few weeks back. I’m definitely not blind to changes that need to be made. I’m truly hoping we’re headed in a good direction with the new landscape of CFB and Gundy have the program in excellent condition when it’s time for him to hand it over. You and I want the same things for all our programs, but sometimes we disagree on how to get there.
I’m a second generation OSU alum that grew up in Stillwater. Went to elementary school blocks away from campus and ran all over campus with a friend every afternoon waiting for our moms got off work at her job in the biochemistry department. Throwing the NERF football around on that old concrete turf at Lewis Field was one of our favorite ways to pass the time.
As a journalism student, I interned under Stev Buzzard and loved it. As a guy who grew up with OSU football posters on my wall-the ones where you had the team photo & individual coaches photos-it was heaven.
After leaving Stillwater for years, I returned and wound up working on campus and then in various capacities in the athletic department. Let’s just say that it’s not that big of a place, people talk.
I’ve known Mike Gundy since he was the QB. Know people that work with him every day and I still talk to them, and you’d know their names.
I say what I say here because I want the best for OSU and I believe it’s bigger than any one person. I saw what happened when Eddie became untouchable and nobody would say anything, and the disaster that followed. That can’t happen again, so I’m glad to see our leadership putting things back in line. There needed to be a serious reset here and they did it.
It’s not the same set of circumstances, thankfully, but , OU had to send Switzer packing because they knew things had to change. It’s what good organizations do. It’s a results oriented multi million $$ enterprise that simply can’t treat things like it’s the Myron Roderick days.
I’m encouraged by some of the hirings and hopeful that next year looks completely different. I’ve said that 7-5 would be enough for me to feel encouraged. I’ve also said that I have zero faith in Gundy getting that done and continuing to climb from there. I simply agree with you and that his time is coming to an end, and I believe he knows it. I don’t want to see us do with the FB program what we’ve done with the BB & wrestling programs.
Btw, I can still picture the poster from one of Jimmy’s years. That coaching staff, my god. Paul Jette, Wannestadt, Larry Coker, etc…
Man the staff is getting after it. Anyone have any idea of how many we’ll be taking in the portal total to fill numbers? We just picked up CB JK Johnson from LSU. He was highly rated out of HS, but he hasn’t played much in college. Hopefully he’ll optimize his talent here.
Wow! Getting a little optimistic damnitWe just picked up CB JK Johnson from LSU. He was highly rated out of HS, but he hasn’t played much in college. Hopefully he’ll optimize his talent here.
I know he know has portal ranking. But just utilizing his old HS recruiting ranking, he has to be one of the highest ranked recruits. Nice pickup. We just picked up CB JK Johnson from LSU. He was highly rated out of HS, but he hasn’t played much in college. Hopefully he’ll optimize his talent here.
This should make some people happy. Big schools, lots of stars. We just picked up CB JK Johnson from LSU. He was highly rated out of HS, but he hasn’t played much in college. Hopefully he’ll optimize his talent here.
I hear ya, but it’s hard to know why.I will say, my first question is....why didn't the other schools work out?
But I'm still thrilled. Defense is really shaping up. Offense still has work to do.
Very well said. You and I want the same things for all our programs, but sometimes we disagree on how to get there.

Agree. Sometimes it just clicks all the right time for these athletes! Hopefully this is his time. We need depth and competitiveness in practice and it’s looks like we’re getting that in many areas. Love it.I hear ya, but it’s hard to know why.
The only thing that we do know is that a year or two is gone, so you’d hope that the fires burning bright to make it work now.
I apologize for comparing you to a Sooner fan and I have deleted my comments in that regard. Thanks for providing some background for the things you say.You and I want the same things for all our programs, but sometimes we disagree on how to get there.

Yeah. Very high risk, high reward pick up. Hopefully he hits. Similar to the OU RB we picked up where it's not the end of the world if he doesn't work out.I will say, my first question is....why didn't the other schools work out?

The last TE we used well in the passing game was Brandon Pettigrew. The TE coach then was Doug Meacham. I have a feeling we might utilize that position much better with him as OC.
Apparently he broke his arm in 2023, and just couldn't get back into the swing of things this past year, so he didn't play much at all. He was certainly highly rated and had a lot of talent, but we're talking about a player who 3 solo tackles in 3 years of college football, no pass deflections, and no interceptions. We'll probably need to temper some expectations. It may take him some time to get up to speed. We just picked up CB JK Johnson from LSU. He was highly rated out of HS, but he hasn’t played much in college. Hopefully he’ll optimize his talent here.
