Trump 47

A decent video that ultimately drills down to the issue/conclusion that for this to work the rest of the world will have to trust Trump will do what he says he will during new negotiations and basically become vassal states economically to the US.

Trust the guy that has just recently basically tore up prior trade agreements and threatens security agreements with our strongest allies daily to mean it when he reaches new trade agreements.

I don’t see that happening at all….especially worldwide like it would need to. Much less in the “two months” you’re willing to give it. I really don’t think the rest of the world is as trusting and naive as the MAGAstani.
We are just over a quarter of the world economy. Especially due to the way this has all been enacted, it is much more likely to cause the other countries to band together and squeeze us.

Even if one thought tariffs were a good thing to be used (I want to be clear, I DO NOT think this), it would be far more effective to pick a couple countries at a time and put the squeeze on them until they capitulate. Now, that won't happen.

Yep.

The US citizenry and more especially the Magastani’s don’t have the patience or the fiscal ability to play this out.

Also, we don’t have the workforce to actually do the work to replace the 10,000,000 he says he wants to deport and work in these manufacturing jobs he says he will create.

Another issue is that from 1950-1990 your choices if you were a “green” or “yellow” nation were either the US or Russia and no one was choosing Russia. And then for the next 20ish yrs it was only the US. Now you have China and we are seeing the beginnings of China filling our void in Africa and Central America. It’s not out of the picture for S Korea and/or Japan turning more towards China.

And he is decimating the O&G industry and the Magastan assault on science will further cripple us. Those are two areas that fit hand in glove and have led us to the stature we have and he’s just hamstringing them.

It’s already starting to happen.

Yeah. I will be surprised if many don't cut tariffs between other major economies and essentially just find replacement trade partners. And then yet again our place/power in the world is voluntarily reduced for no good reason. Backed out of Europe militarily, socially across the world through aid cuts, now economically through this crap and the death of foreign tourism to our country.

So is this how we become great again?

The video I posted references our military umbrella as well as well as the fact that our $$$ is somewhat the universal reserve currency as reasons why we are carrying a bigger stick than just 25%.

Again...as mentioned I'm no global trade expert.

Commercial Building , welding supplies, some steel and tubing, tools and safety supplies and industry maintenance supplies such as adhesive's, cutting and and drilling accessories, safety equipment, some power tools

Think Grainger or White Cap

So commercial construction my industry. We are bracing for a bit of a wild ride. Fun thing about Tariffs is that force majeure doesn't apply. Meaning if you are under a contract and your material cost goes up due to tariffs, you cannot demand an increased contract amount from your client. Now most clients will more than likely negotiate a fair change request just to keep good faith and receive a quality project. That said, the vendors/subcontractors/contractors got so used to having this leverage during covid (and after) are up for a rude awakening.

The White House was hours away from announcing a proposal to spin off the popular video app TikTok when the Chinese government shattered the idea, saying it would not approve of any deal without first discussing President Trump’s tariffs and trade policy, people close to the negotiations said.
