Trump 2024 Run Thread

Who said they were “MAGA”?

My point has been this is politically driven, has not been done previously and sets a bad precedent moving forward. The implications this has on our judicial system and elections moving forward is disastrous.

In my opinion people are letting their hatred of Trump cloud their judgement on whether this is a good thing for our judicial system. Not using the slightest bit of critical thinking to anticipate what this does to our country moving forward.

Finally, my last input then I will go back to posting in the sports side of this app. I appreciate the conversation. This country has had a long list of presidents and former presidents do illegal activities and were not prosecuted for them. Why not then? Why Trump now? People’s hatred of a man is clouding their judgement on the politically motivated prosecution of a former president while he is running for president. The fact that all of sudden this is acceptable is scary for our country.

See you in the sports forum.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This is not an airport.

No need to announce your departure.

Bye Bye Goodbye GIF

After Trump ran on "lock her up", you really believe if they had sufficient evidence to charge and convict they wouldn't have done so.
Exactly. No way in f'in hell she wouldn't have been in a cell if he they could have made any of that stick. BTW, if she actually did commit a crime, then I would have been ok with it. Just like this case it can get a bit sticky in the court of pubic opinion when dealing with politicians and elected officials, but no man is above the law.

Except Presidents and ex-Presidents according to @SanditeCowboy.

Bill Clinton had an affair. He wasn’t the first president to do that. Bill Clint lied to Congress. He wasn’t the first to do that either. Yet he was impeached. Was that politically motivated? Was it bad precedent?

This guy cheated on his 3rd wife back in 2006ish when he slept w a porn star (which by the way was also an act of infidelity on the adulterous relationship he was having w the playboy playmate).

In early October of 2016 (month before the election) the Access Hollywood tape comes out w trumps own voice bragging about sexual assault. History would tell us that would be the end of him. Then 2 weeks later and a mere ten days before the election Trump gets word that the stormy Daniel’s news could break so he pays her off. Then after the election in violation of NY state lake he falsifies business records in furtherance of a cover up.

Why are you not upset that this guy broke the law and cheated to win in 2016?

Very naive perspective. This was politically motivated.

The lesson to take from Trump is that if you have enough money you can do anything you want in this country... except try to overthrow the US government. There are dozens of other crimes Trump likely committed but Republicans are pulling every lever they can to make sure he never has to answer for those crimes. They weren't able to do so here because this was a state matter.

This is a pathological liar you're supporting. He absolutely represents the worst of us. Yes, he's funny at times. Some of those times is when he's making fun of handicapped people, prisoners of war, or joking about having the tallest building in New York after 9/11.

Republican are saying that a district court judge's daughter works for a democrat politician so that means he is corrupt and both of them must be investigated. But there is nothing wrong with a supreme court justice's wife being a maga conservative activist. And nothing wrong with with a different supreme court justice's wife flying a maga flags and the US flag upside down. 🤦‍♂️

My gosh man, the reason these actions are unprecedented is because we’ve NEVER elected a grifting narcissistic conman criminal as President. Period. Get a grip on reality. Our justice system held, the crook was indicted by twelve peers agreed upon by Trump’s lawyers. Nothing biased or fraudulent about it. 34 counts and a unanimous guilty verdict should convince you you’ve wasted your time defending this BLOAT biggest liar/loser of all time.

I am breaking my own personal rule responding here and I want to state that this is my personal view, not that of the site (which is dedicated to OSU sports) or the other mods.

Trump broke several laws and was found guilty, the first time ever for a former president. There was never a universe where convicting an ex president would not be viewed by that person's supporters as political. We can look at other countries where this has happened recently (France, Argentina, Pakistan, etc). If you followed the trial and the testimonies, it is pretty clear he knowingly broke the law at the time. His 1st amendment was not trampled on, he took the 5th so he didn't incriminate himself further.

I view this as a positive development as all of our current and last 5 presidents have broken the law:
1) Clinton - lied under oath to congress
2) Bush - Invaded Iraq under knowingly false pretenses directly leading to 100k civilian deaths
3) Obama - used drones to assassinate more than 1 american citizen without due process
4) Trump - this case, along with the GA one where we have recordings of him telling the GA governor to find him votes do he win
5) Biden - Attempted use of office to shield family members from prosecution

US / British alpha male who claims having sex for pleasure with women makes you gay and is currently dodging extradition for legal issues to multiple countries for sex trafficking

I honestly didn't care about this one. I'll be on @SanditeCowboy's side here a little bit. If it wasn't Donald Trump and he wasn't running again, this doesn't make much of a splash. His lawyer paid off a porn star and they tried to hide it. Yawn.

Now the next couple of trials, the election interference ones, are incredibly important. He should rot in jail for those and be disqualified from running for president.
