The Charleston Classic

Forgive the analogy. I meant it as we couldn't hit shots when it mattered. No arguments at all about the effort and attitude.
Having a 17 point turnaround in the 2nd half is very MB-esque...but it wasn't a collapse like we're used to. It was just a slow bleed of fouls and missed shots, and I don't think this will be the norm with this team.

9 assists in the first half, only 4 in the second. I imagine some of that had to do with the lack of transition opportunities due to so many fouls called. I love the transition game, everybody does, but have to get better at executing offensive plays. And for Pete's sake did somebody put a shooting hex on our program....the ball has to go in the hoop. Simple.

Also if that was a big 12 crew you can bet we'll see them again. The conference isn't going to assign a crew who calls so many ticky tack fouls to Big Monday games, the networks won't like that...no they will be assigned to ESPN+ games, of which we have a ton. Better adjust.

The lack of a strong inside presence seems to be the glaring deficiency of this team. There are a lot of areas to improve. Our lack of height and bulk leaves very dependent on the transition game. It would be great if we had a player that could get the missed layups put the ball in the bucket.

We’re a different team with Ousmane on the court. He was in foul trouble yesterday, especially in the second half, and you see the result. Also having Suemnik get hurt was bad for yesterday’s matchup since he didn’t play in the second half. FAU has some serious size. Having watched them play yesterday, Miami will actually be a better matchup for us today.

I didn't watch the first half. Was it bad or just a precautionary thing?

Ousmane in foul trouble early. 2 fouls in the first 10 minutes. He's going to have to figure out how to play defense without fouling.

By far the best half of basketball in the S. Lutz era. 43-27 at half. Fouling is still an issue. 8 of Miami's 27 points have come from the FT line. 4 players have 2 fouls each. It does feel like we are reaching a whole lot. Felt like we were getting killed on the boards but are winning the rebound battle 20-17.

Goodness, that sealing of the lane for an easy drive to the basket… So simple and so good. You can tell the guys have been drilled on that.

Miami is 13 of their last 16 from the field and its an 11 point game. Pokes have done a great job of responding every time Miami has made a little run. The fact that they have shot 81% over their last 16 buckets is remarkable.
