Nervous to say it, but our lack of height and a go-to offensive guy are going to be rough in Big 12 play. Love the effort though. I think we have a good coach, in Lutz, who will get us where we want to be.

Totally agree. We don't have the overall height and scorers, but I think Coach Lutz will get everything that he can from this team and we'll improve all year.

You may have up and down shooting nights, but a team can play max effort defense every game of the year, and that will keep us in a lot of games.

This team is coached way better and plays better, but this weekend should show us there is still a LONG way to go.

I don't think any of the three opponents would be in the upper half of the Big 12 and we went 1-2.

We have an EIGHTEEN free throw advantage and we're down 11 to Nevada. They are shooting 58%.

Florida Atlantic was picked 5th in the AAC.
Miami was picked 5th in the ACC.
Nevada was picked 3rd in the Mountain West.

I could see any of those teams being picked around the middle of the Big 12. Either way, you’re right that we still have a ways to go. After watching our team in person three time this year, it’s obvious we really lack height and positional size. Every team we play has a significant height advantage at every position. We also weren’t very good defensively this weekend. We get beat off the dribble often, foul a lot due to being out of position, and we gamble for steals a lot. We also didn’t shoot the ball well today, if we don’t shoot well from 3 it’s gonna be tough to win games.

The defense was not good at all. Lutz was pissed in the post game radio interview.

What is the Andreij status?? Isn’t he tall?

He’s tall, but not as tall as FAU’s bigs that we played against the other day. They had some legit 7’0, 7’1 guys. Andreji looks about 6’10, he’s no taller than Ousmane by comparison.

From what I am gathering we are planning on redshirting him. Sounds like there is potential, but needs time to adjust to the tempo we play at.

I like Lutz and think he’ll do well and will support him, but was secretly hoping we’d have taken a chance on McCollum.
