If Gundy is rotten to the core why did everyone stay last year?

That is a good question if all the players would have stayed if Dunn was gone. Could that show how little involvement Gundy has with players?

I've heard numerous times that Gundy does not have a relationship with the players. Three of them direct from former said players.

I don't really care if that's how he does it, but if his assistants are a-holes, that will make it hard to keep people.

The answer to why everyone stays or goes comes down to winning and playing time, you'll come back to most situations if you expect to win and expect to get a lot of playing time. If you're losing and/or not playing, you'll move on and gripe about the things that piss you off.

Gundy referring to players as their number hints what you’ve heard is probably right.

To me, this is a crap way to create a good culture. I am actually surprised and shocked that he has performed as well as he has treating the players as means to an end.

I would want a coach that shows emotion and cares about me as a person.

What happened to the man who turned 40? That guy stood up for players very emotionally and vocally.

Yes. Lots of schools have one off accusations. Gundy has repeated accusations.
Because Gundy is an easy target - for people who don't like Gundy, the idea that he's some racist Okie hick is an easy to sell. The mullet, being from Oklahoma, the OAN shirt.. it's an easy story to sell and get attention because people subconsciously already believe he's racist. Which, ironically, is the exact kind of profiling and discrimination we should be trying to get rid of, but I guess that's beside the point.

There's zero chance Gundy's here for 20+ seasons, with stars like Blackmon, Presley, Gordon, etc. willingly electing to stay, if he was actually a racist. As for Dunn, the proof is evident that he's a terrible OC. A terrible person, though? Come on... no one had a problem with him when he was among the best WR coaches in the country and had a near historic run of WR talent for nearly a decade. The stupidity of decisions made within the program this year is being matched by the stupidity of much of our fan base.

Wake me up when a player who actually played says something. This sounds like a bunch of whiney kids making stuff up because they weren't good enough to play here.

If this were even remotely true we would have heard about it years ago. We've had one of the best team cultures in the country for two decades. That's not by accident.

People we're freaking out when a bunch of locker room cancers left the team in 22 and then we went to the Big 12 championship the next year.

The stupidity of our fan base might be the ones like you that continue to ignore gundys consistent issues.

Is Gundy a white supremacist? Almost surely not. But he does appear to not understand or care that some of his actions and words can be taken as racist by his players.

That was an axe to grind with the media first and foremost, & a young coach who couldn’t handle benching his prize QB for the guy who was outplaying him. Everything in Carlsons column that day was absolutely true, which is why his response was so strong-he knew there were people talking.

It was a totally premeditated thing to look like he’s the ultimate players coach.

Gundy’s dad was in the back of the room rooting him on during that rant, fwiw. He didn’t typically attend postgames up to that point, so draw your own conclusion.

Why would a player that actually plays bite the hand that feeds them?

Again, before you grab your pearls and head to the fainting couch Nancy, get some perspective.

Do you honestly think that, having coached a vast majority of African Americans for 30 years, he has no clue how to relate? Do you honestly think that a college kid’s complaint over an OAN shirt in the hysteria of 2020, & this ‘ghetto Kat’ allegation make sense?

If so, your clear implication is that the vast numbers of other AA players are simply complicit.

have you tried looking at it from the players perspective? If there nfl chances or their scholarship depend on being on good terms with the HC I can absolutely see them being complicit. The hood/ghetto rat comments were mentioned in articles back in 2020.

Calling someone a "ghetto rat" isn't something that was meant innocently but was taken out of context. Outside of the OAN shirt, which in my opinion was a giant overreaction, name one other instance where Gundy said or did something that was likely innocent but could be easily misconstrued?

Gundy can't spend his life walking on eggshells afraid to offend someone. No one should be asked to do that. That's an idiotic take. Players should know who he is and if they don't want to be on his team, then they have every right to leave.

The funny thing is that not many players seem to do that, so it just leaves people like you who trump up stories because, I don't know, you're bored or something.
