Kanion Williams Comments

I'm a certified Gundy hater, and maybe I'm being naive, but I really can't imagine Gundy being dumb enough to express racism or hatefulness directly to a player in the middle of the weight room for seemingly no reason. Something seems off about that.

It seems more plausible that he thought it was a funny thing to say, and is just out of touch enough to not realize it would be offensive to that player in that context. Sounds like he didn't have the equity to use that term with Kanion Williams. Maybe he overheard someone else call him that, and thought he could also use that nickname? Maybe a coach called him that in another context?
The problem is Gundy’s lack of awareness and inability to relate and understand their boundaries leads to a perception that is not good with the players. It also cast a dark cloud over future players.

It’s probably better if you are a white person who is a coach not to say anything with any racial connotations even if it’s not meant to be offensive.

I’m going to need more than an accusation from a disgruntled former player who transferred from the university to call someone a racist. Did we not learn anything from the Sports Illustrated drama? They found plenty of disgruntled former players to make stuff up.
As disgusted as I am with Gundy, I agree with you here. There would need to be more meat on this bone to make it credible.

Pete Thamel is still out there and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s not sniffing around on this. The SI piece, then his takedown of Gundy on Yahoo over the OAN shirt leave no doubt where he stands on Mike. The Yahoo piece was absolutely vicious is you don’t recall.

Why do we have a history of “disgruntled” players “making up” stories? This pattern doesn't happen at other schools or to other coaches.

Sounds like there will be more. This type of behavior makes sense as to why we keep losing talent to the portal and potential transfers/recruits don’t have good vibes to choose OSU. This explains this coaching staff’s lack of successful recruiting classes. Gundy’s a dinosaur, he can’t relate to incoming players and doesn’t have the sympathy/understanding to adapt to what players in this day and age are looking for in leadership.

I think that may be the case, but that excuse doesn't fly in this world. Just look at what happend to Cale in Norman.
He left to go into the portal two years ago in December 2022! I don’t think it was his decision alone, I think he was basically told you don’t have a place on this team anymore along with several other players that year including Spencer Sanders! I will talk to my contacts within the program to see if I can ascertain the whole story and ask OSU Psycho to talk to his contacts and see where this all falls out!!! Stay tuned!

I am going to address this once for the dense that have trouble understanding or watch to much mainstream media.

Supporting OAN or a conservative slant news is not racism. Calling players racial slurs is entirely different and yes this definitely would meet cause for firing.
Correct. But the same rumors came out from former players at that time. That is what i was referring to. Sorry I stated it more as what most people think of it as vs the racism rumors during the fallout.

A lot of programs have this-don’t kid yourself.

Colorado had a big expose written last summer and it was sourced by disgruntled guys, rightly or wrongly, who had left the program. Kids are also able to grind an ax publicly now, so there’s that too.

This has gone on forever btw. I have a buddy who started for nearly two seasons as a walk on under Jimmy Johnson. Jimmy kept stringing him along and promising a scholarship. He finally quit in year 3 when he realized that no scholarship was coming.

I’ll defend Gundy here. I worked with the team for a while and Kanion… really want to try and be nice here but he was very dramatic. To say he was disgruntled is an understatement.

I find it very hard to believe that did not blow up if Gundy really called him a ghetto rat.

Although I wasn’t around the meetings, I saw enough to not believe that allegation unless more proof comes out. I’m as pissed as anyone but I think we need to not jump to conclusions.

Yes. Lots of schools have one off accusations. Gundy has repeated accusations.

In this world of you’re guilty before any evidence is submitted, how about we take the course of innocent until/if any proof surfaces.

I’m as pissed at Gundy as anyone else but hate this mentality of people just jumping on an allegation and running with it is not responsible.

Gundy is tremendously arrogant and tone deaf and probably thinks he’s untouchable. In my mind, that explains why he says unbelievably stupid comments to players. Maybe this will be enough for him to realize that for everyone involved it would be best served if he resigns.

So it begins………
Agree, but with Gundy that is a huge MAYBE!
