Gundy is out…..

College football has changed. You used to wait until the end of the season. Now you do it now so you have the most time to find the right head coach and be ready for when transfer portal opens to get new players to come in. I also don't know why I wanted to watch another losing season of uninspired gundyball when I can at least see what this team can do without him now.
What prevents them from completing interviews and searching for the next HC while he finishes out the season? Like I stated above, you inform him of the decision and move forward with the process.

Also, wanted to do a friendly plug for the AV. Some inside information is being discussed regarding the HC and potential AD openings for those interested in that.

There will be a full Coaching search and it can be nice to be plugged into that.
Just signed up. I've been delinquent since the OP days. This is finally an event to breathe life into the program. Excited to follow along.

There was a time I never thought this would happen, but considering the nose dive of our program over the past year and half, this is something that is needed. I wish Gundy the best. Hopefully we hire someone who breathe some new life into the program and get more $$.

After the 2011 Season at the Fiesta Bowl Celebration, There was a photo of Coach Gundy with Coach Budke's wife hugging him. Everyone was celebrating, there was confetti etc....but Mrs. Budke was sobbing..Gundy had his arm around her. That photo is burned into my brain man. I will always love and respect Coach Gundy for what he did for my beloved university. Great Ride Cowboy.

Edit...I found the photo.

I can see the second part being true and if so then it had to be done.
That would be my guess as well as to how it played out. In today’s world of college football you can’t have the uncertainty drag out. Conversations need to be ongoing with candidates, even through back channels. It’s critical to have a plan in place as soon as the season ends and the portal opens. You saw how quickly things moved with coaches, coordinators and players last year after that final game. Many of those were well on their way to new destinations in 2-3 days after the regular season ended.

If he’d have agreed to a retirement and exit plan strategy, those conversations could have been ongoing.

We need to find a guy with energy and kids love to play for.

My choice would be a guy who was a GA at OSU back when they were winning. Eric Henderson, he's at USC now as CO DC and Dline Coach. #1 recruiter in the country, born and raised in Louisiana so he has SEC ties and has proven he can get those guys out of there. Also a Super Bowl champ so he knows the type of talent needed to be a powerhouse. It can't be an unproven OSU Alum because they played at OSU.

Has signed the top Dline class both years hes been at USC and the #1 Player in Louisiana right out from under LSU. He would bring guys with him that would transform the program and help us get back to being relevant again.

In all reality, the only thing a head coach really needs to be doing on Saturdays now is making decisions to punt/go for it/extra point/go for 2/onside kick.

The assistants and coordinators should’ve been doing everything the way they wanna do it, so pick a guy who can make the decision in those scenarios and then get back to trying to change how we’ve been playing.

We need a younger guy whose a popular name in the game, who is a top recruiter and will go after guys OSU didn't try to go after before. I will keep saying it and you can check the track record yourself but Eric Henderson should be the guy. And then he can go get guys to come with him like i don't know maybe an Aaron Donald to be the DLine Coach? If any of you have been to an SEC game it starts up front, we don't have anywhere close to the guys to compete nationally anymore.
