Cowboys vs Shockers

13-6 final. We went from dominating midweek games to quite the opposite.
I chalk this one up to pitching a lot of down staff guys because of the early start due to Easter Weekend. Midweek games suck. Heck #2 Wake Forest lost to Elon. Happening twice in a row is a little concerning. Will wait to see if it happens a 3rd time before I start pressing the panic button. Still in a great position to host a regional and a shot at a national seed if we keep winning Big 12 series.

Midweek games can and will be weird. What got my attention was the dramatic swing between the first match ups with DBU and WSU. Sure pitching may be an experiment in these games but we stopped hitting too in the rematches.

A lot of it is early in the year the midweek games have guys that end up as weekend guys. We are still trying to figure out a lineup and we don’t have to worry about conference games. Where we are now we usually have settled in on a lineup and use midweek to get guys experienced and not sacrifice conference games

You're right. It's strange. We're tied for first in the league, have perhaps the hardest part behind us...but also have tons of question marks, basically other than relief pitching and one starter, and tons of key players out. Getting Ehrhard back to last years form will be a big boost to the lineup if it can happen.

Also, thank God for Schubart. Hope he can keep it up and avoid hitting the wall. Pretty good combo of all hitting disciplines; power, average, plate approach... Count me as a big fan of #10

Very strange. Can’t remember the last time we had 4 starters out of the lineup. Earhard, McLean, Meola and Daugherty. Shows how deep we are in position players, probably the deepest under Josh. Hope the bats can take some pressure off the pitching staff, especially with McLean not available to close.

Also what I’ve been thinking too is how different the pitching staff would like with a healthy Ure. Was really excited to see his development this season.

I thought Bogey might spring board off that XII performance. I know he’s been in recovery but dang, not there yet I guess.
