2024 Presidential Election

Paywall. Regardless I'm very confident this will not happen.

I'll eat crow on here if there's any movement at the federal level. I promise, please call me out. I think we all know there will be no crow to eat.

Correct me if I'm wrong but could congress pass such a law with only 53 Rep Senators? If the Reps do take the house it will be a slim majority. I understand it being an issue though, I never thought Row would be changed until it was. To be honest I thought the backlash would be more than it has been.

I am pro life but also pro states rights. Not sure where that puts me.
Both parties in Congress have shown a willingness to change filibuster/cloture rules on issues near and dear to them. Dems did it for advise and consent approvals of federal appointments and lower court judges. Republicans did the same thing to ram through their Supreme Court justices.

So yes, Congress could pass such a law with only 53 Rep Senators if they changed the filibuster rules. Only a majority is required to change the rules. Would they? I don't know. Could they, yes.

I’m very confident that Harris is not a communist, was at best going to raise taxes a percent or two for high income. Yet, “she’ll kill us with her socialism/communism” was said by all the conservative men around here all the time. It is very easy to be confident about something that won’t affect you if you are wrong anyway.

I'm sure your willingness to eat crow on a message board is very reassuring to all the women who will have rights already taken away when your meal of crow is submitted to you.

True, hopefully they aren't that short sighted because then the Dems would just make it legal everywhere next time the power balance shifts, and it will....and back and forth we'd go. They are pretty stupid though so who knows.

I'm not "sobbing over how my daughter's rights will now be violated" but I just spent a pretty good amount of time comforting my daughter. MY daughter. Rxette. Her pic is down below with Adarius Bowman's parents at the Georgia game in Athens. A real person. Really real, and she wasn't being irrational either. There are plenty of daughters that are upset and hurting right now and we shouldn't be making light of that. They are real people. I've asked Rob to stop. What else can I do?

Rob, please. This is who you are trolling. Stop. Everyone. Stop. We've got to be able to put this all back together and this isn't the way.

OMG! I wasn't trolling anyone, especially their daughters, of which I am father to one. FFS, read for content.

Tell ya what tho, go the the political meme thread and I'll show you a fine example of a political troll upon all the Chicken Littles of the world.

So, there was no voter fraud this time?! asking for a friend...
None and there wasn't any last time, the left just decided not to show up to vote in this one,
A because they couldn't bring themselves to vote for 4 more years of Bidenomics.
OR
B Kamala had them convinced she was a shoe-in.

Tell me, if that stage is so important, why does your God kill off >50% before they ever leave the womb?

“Live Action?” Please. I’ve seen it all in real time for more that 30 years. This is like you handing “Saving Private Ryan” to a combat vet as you argue with him about what war is like.
So your logic is that it's ok for you to kill them because a percentage of pregnancies result in miscarriage naturally? That's like saying "Well x number of people are accidentally run over by cars every year so it's ok for me to just mow down the next person that walks across the street." It's a stupid argument but you already knew that. Honestly, the fact that you have been a doctor for 30 years and seem to be perfectly fine murdering an innocent baby is baffling to me. If you don't like being thrown into the Private Ryan scenario don't make statements that make you look like you've never been to war.

You keep saying baby and murdering babies? When do you think a fetus is a baby and why at that point?

Regardless your stance on abortion I feel this is another misstep by Harris......she tried to make it THE issue of the campaign and logistically.....talking vote totals only here.... it isn't. Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Utah etc are going to pass crazy punitive abortion laws so I get that it is top of ticket for a lot of voters......problem is Trump was going to win those regardless. Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania aren't going to do that so if you are the parent of 16 year old boy and 14 year old daughter your son is in a bigger threat of going to a war there has been little to no diplomatic headway on than your daughter's reproductive health being legislated in a threatening way or the economy is a bigger issue. She also campaigned on stances she can't accomplish without a vote of house/senate so even if she won she may not have been able to deliver on any of it.

It wasn't a completely crazy strategy out here in Arizona, even though we are definitely an outlier. We enshrined expanded abortion access as part of the state constitution AND voted for Trump this week. People voted across party lines for that one, most likely because there was a quick second here where we had to revert to like a 19th century law on abortion which essentially outlawed it.

Yep. Right now on MSNBC on “The Beat with Ari Melber” he is talking about how too many Dem voters live in a bubble…and have little understanding of the perspective of millions of their fellow citizens. Ironically, he is kinda condemning the media that feeds America only what they want to hear.

I've heard it described as Dem voters confuse online with real life. They don't talk to people, they only talk to their twitter feeds, which amplify the craziest takes for clicks. That's why they are always so blown away when they don't get the votes on abortion, immigration, etc etc.

Good grief dude.

@steross , you may be a 'doctor' and have a 'medical degree'... but there's no way you can compete with a video off youtube. I mean, that's really the final authority as we all know. Think how much time people have 'researched for themselves' on this topic that know so much more than you, a doctor.

Honestly, Steross, you should just shut up and let the experts (youtube video) tell us what we already want to believe.

Kind of where I was heading with my post. People decided on abortion it's no longer the bigger topic.....it wasn't in the blue wall states. I'm betting the border was a bigger issue for many in AZ. Another issue that killed Harris. She never answered as to why they opened the border and left it open for three years or why the 118B border bill was 90B of foreign military aid. Zona and NV flipped and lost ground in CO,NM, and CA. The dems did a horrible job campaigning and picked the wrong person. They lost 20M votes in the middle of the political spectrum. That's not Trumps fault it's theirs.
