2024 Presidential Election

Hello. I’m the guy that always posts crazy liberal ideas about Christianity. I have moooore than a few thoughts on this, I’ve been away for a bit, but I’ve been drawn back to this thread because of the election.

I’ll start with the most basic question; How does an individual who holds “Christian” values justify their voting for trump?

Seriously, how, (if at all?) has Christianity shaped your decision?

I don’t think this held up.
F*** you for making me link to The Oklahoman.

Is abortion legal in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma's current law makes abortion illegal and the procedure cannot be performed unless it's necessary to protect the mother's life.

Good lord
Dude, I'm a pro-life conservative Christian who has still never voted for a Democrat in a national election. And I will always be a pro-life conservative Christian, though I have broken away from the evangelicals. I also have a very close relationship with my daughter. I don't need you to tell me how to parent her.

I'd like to add how disappointed I am in how the 3rd party candidates did. Stein, Kennedy and Oliver haven't even got 2 million votes combined.

I was hoping that as the two party monopoly gives us worse and worse candidates, the 3rd party candidates would get more and more support, but the opposite seems to be happening. They are feeding us sh!t and we the people are licking our lips and begging for more.

I don't understand how anyone could vote for Trump, but the country can survive 4 years of him. I don't understand how anyone could vote for Harris but the country could've survived 4 years of her. However, I don't think this country can survive another 50 years of the Reps and Dems in control, in their current forms at least....and they have no reason to change as long as we keep rewarding their behavior.

I might be wrong but I think Drummond said to das not to prosecute most of them and the state Supreme Court agreed?

And murdered babies evidently won't change yours.
Nope. Because I've spent years dealing with these issues, and calling them "murdered babies" is not reality, it is political fodder like "Pay their fair share" or "Black/All live matter" or "no human is illegal." It pulls up emotion and misses the complexity of the situation. And, of course, I already said that there would be FEWER "murdered babies" if we did it right instead of wasting oodles of money fighting over the law. So, no "murdered babies" will not make me support laws that harm women and isn't even the best thing for babies.

This is a good interview with RFK Jr.

I know many here think he is a crackpot and wouldn't listen to a word he says. There are things that I vehemently disagree with him about but I also have a glimmer of hope about some of the things he is saying. It is interesting to me that people complain about oligarchy and corporate influence on our government. He is saying that he is going to try to weed out this corporate influence on our heath services and nobody on the left seems interested because he isn't acting from the left. The democratic party would not listen to this. Should have, but didn't. Trump did. The food supply in this country is toxic. We allow all kinds of chemicals banned elsewhere because of this influence. Our food guidelines were made by a panel on which 95% of the participants had corporate conflicts of interest. I hope this administration starts the change for this critical issue.

The libertarian party leadership didn't support Chase Oliver, the nominee because he was not Mises Caucus. They even blocked ballot access in some states. They supported Trump.

I just told a friend of mine that if the Democrats had embraced RFK and Musk there is no doubt in my mind that Harris would have won. Instead they chose to alienate them. Self-inflicted wound.

What, exactly, do you call intentionally killing an innocent baby?

I know abortion was a hot talking point for this presidential election with the major movement over the past few years. Regardless of said movement the issue isn't up for change on the federal level. Roe isn't getting reinstated in the supreme court in the next 50 years. Even if the democrats got the sweep, they still wouldn't have had the numbers to do anything with it. I know people don't like it, but this topic has rejoined guns as a state issue. The topic is just words at the federal level.

I have a question about the abortion issue. I see people saying they are worried about their daughters because Trump won, but the laws in red states wouldn't change if Harris had won and the laws in blue states aren't going to change with trump winning.
You can't see the possibility of a congress controlled by the Rs and Trump making it nationwide? I realize he said he wouldn't, but several of the SCOTUS justices said that stare decis was important and they would not change Roe until they did. Pretty tough to trust who burned you. Also, can further harm planned parenthood/ low cost women's clinics.

Correct me if I'm wrong but could congress pass such a law with only 53 Rep Senators? If the Reps do take the house it will be a slim majority. I understand it being an issue though, I never thought Row would be changed until it was. To be honest I thought the backlash would be more than it has been.

I am pro life but also pro states rights. Not sure where that puts me.

Not only that, but concurring opinions in the decision overturning Roe were advocating for re-examination of the constitutional right to birth control and the constitutional right to same sex marriage.
