We tried the up and coming assistant approach, and well... here we are. I think we need a proven head coach, but the $ (NIL, buyout for HCMB, buyout for incoming coach, salary for incoming coach) is definitelyWe aren't hiring a coach with a buyout over 1-2 million. Zero chance. I say get a young up and coming assistant from a successful program. Very likely under a million buyout. I know that is not done as often in basketball, but we can't afford to do much. Also if we get him cheaper that helps justify the change as the value compounds over the next year or three.
I agree with your second post about football success being critical in the next 5+ years.
