US continues to go backward...

Correct me if I'm wrong......but don't parents of Private School kids still pay taxes that support public schools? I don't see the harm here.
Well….in States where they don’t get tax credits to send their kids to private school (like Oklahoma does)…yes they still pay taxes.

Either way, I think there are MANY more things to be more seriously concerned about than this.

21 States currently offer tax credits for private school parents. Take advantage of public school Tax spend for your OWN kid AND get a Tax Break for doing so !

I am with Polds on this …for a different reason. At least how I am interpreting the article.

As a coach in a school, my players have to be passing in all classes each week to be eligible. Eligibility at a private school may be much different than for the public school. At first glance, this potentially makes eligibility to participate different for public and private school students.

A kid playing on your team that the coach, principal, super, school board have no authority over

Ohh hey remember those soccer teams and track teams we had, well we had to cut those for public schoolers, private school has those teams and by law they must be allowed to use public facilities for equal time and they chose their track teams and soccer teams to use those facilities....so we had to cut Football and Basketball or Soccer and Track

Ohh hey John Q Taxpayers.... We have a Spending bill up on this year's ballot to put out a 3% tax over the next 2 decades to pay for public facilities updates and upgrades

If you vote to pass this new tax our public school soccer and track teams will get their old facilities back when the private schoolers begin their primary use of the new facilities this tax will build

Then

Hey thanks for helping us build these wonderful new facilities. Hey the Private school X locally has decided they are going to field male and female field hockey teams !! The school board has voted and passed the same for Public School Shafted.....so we are going to put to a vote another 10 year extension of the previous 3% tax to build a new state of the art facility for both schools

Arkansas bill would let private school students join public school activities

Arkansas legislators filed a bill Tuesday allowing a public school district to permit a private school student to participate in interscholastic activity at the resident school district under unique circumstances.

Senate Bill 303 (SB303) is sponsored by Arkansas Sen. Tyler Dees (R-35) and Rep. Randy Torres (R-17).

Interscholastic activities between schools are subject to the rules of the Arkansas Activities Association outside the regular curriculum of a public school district. These activities include an athletic organization, a fine arts program, or a special interest club or group.

The bill states a public school district can permit a private school student to pursue participation in interscholastic activity at the public school district if the private school in which the student is enrolled does not have the specific sanctioned activity in which the student would like to participate.

If the bill passes, hundreds, if not thousands of academically gifted students in Arkansas would have more opportunities to participate in athletics and fine arts if their school does not offer them.

Many fine arts schools in Arkansas do not have athletics, and those students are forced to sacrifice high school athletics for academics if they enroll.

There has always been a "trade-off" of sorts.

If you enroll in certain fine arts schools, you sacrifice high school athletics. Students who enroll in a school with a focus on athletics, in many cases, sacrifice an opportunity to receive a top-tier education.

Students would be allowed to participate in whatever they want, wherever they want, so long as they meet the requirements.

The more opportunities offered to high school students, the higher chance they have to garner a well-rounded high school experience.

Eh. Let kids be kids. I don't really see the harm in letting someone play sports or be in band just because.

Heck, that's what we do here. My kid goes to private school but is in the public school concert band. We have kids play basketball for the public school all the time-they have the option to do both but the public school has coaching that isn't a volunteer parent and a more competitive schedule at that age.

So after weeks of ignoring the court order, the court put out a deadline. Now SCOTUS steps in and the administration can continue to stall. The order was clear and they didn't appeal the order, they ignored it. Why is this something SCOTUS should pause?

Because they don’t care about this country.
