Ukraine. Ukraine. Ukraine.

Why on earth do you want a full scale war so badly?

We’ve been down this road before. It’s because people know aiding them with weapons now is relatively cheap compared to not standing up to Putin that would lead to an inevitable wider war in the future. I still lean that way. We’ve tried isolationism before. Two world wars happened.

They aren't going to do squat. Russia knows what happens in January and they aren't going to risk escalation that turns us against them further. They know Trump wants to reduce our involvement but if 90% of the country wants turn Moscow into glass, he won't have a choice there.

There is no evidence that Ukraine is stop one on a broader invasion. The restraint Russia has shown for 3 years points strongly to the contrary. They have the weapons and the army to roll over Ukraine in no time. If this were to set up ww3 they sure have spent a lot of resources they didn’t have to before moving on. All the if we don’t send a trillion worth of weapons he will be in Poland tomorrow stuff is pure speculation. Nothing is relatively cheap when you are 36T in debt.

We can fuss about that all day. You’re right I’m right doesn’t matter…..

At this point after essentially no diplomatic success in a theee years of war for a President with 69 days left in his term that the entire world knows is too senile to function to escalate this in any way is world class stupid. No one should be for this.

The Trump administration might be able to broker a 4-5 year pause in the war so he can claim he’s the “peacetime” President again. But they’ll force Ukraine to give up a third of their country to do so. I’ll be happy to be wrong but Putin will resume and when they decide to take Kiev, NATO forces will have to get directly involved.

And what do they do if the impeccable leadership of Zelinski starts lobbing long range missiles? Just sit there and get shelled till Trump says stop?

Putin has invaded several countries in the past couple decades.

Why do you think we'll be involved in a full scale war?

There is already a full scale war in Ukraine. So limiting weapon use just prolongs it and limits impact to being inside Ukraine. Limiting the use of the weapons we give them just prevents them from being used in their optimal way.

Take the fight to Russia and make their civilians experience what their country is making Ukrainians live through.

You realize Ukraine has been attacking deep into Russia for a year plus right? It just hasn't been with our weapons.

What do you think Russia is going to do? They have little excess military capacity left. All they have is nuclear. If they use nukes, the rest of the world steps in BIG. Russia knows they can't cross that line without risking isolation from China and active involvement from NATO.

Limiting the use of those weapons keeps Russia from using their toys off the table.

God y’all love war

Yep. Iraq x2 and Afghanistan since the early 90s. What land did we take from those countries?
I forgot that rule that it’s ok to invade a country destroy huge parts of it and kill thousands under false pretenses as long as you just leave it a smoldering bed for terrorism. Sorry my bad

I hate war. Been around it, don't want anyone to experience it. But I also don't believe in preventing a country from protecting itself.

Russia doesn't honor international laws/norms in conflict. They are commiting war crimes on the daily, torturing and killing civilians, shipping kids off to random areas of Russia. Why should we dictate what Ukraine does to try to defend its invaded borders?

First time in Iraq was due to Iraq invading Kuwait.

Afghanistan was due to searching for Bin Laden and the Taliban protection of him. 2nd Iraq was Bullsh!t and I'm not ok with any more. But NONE of those are like what Russia has done.

Why do you love Russia?

I never said countries can’t defend themselves.

69 days left in his term. He is not mentally competent for the job. Diplomacy has been a failure. This is so incredibly stupid. Go back to the beach, smell some kids, pardon some friends, make heartfelt speeches…..then enjoy retirement. Don’t mess with wars.

He's not messing with it. He's removing restrictions that never should have been in place.

Yep. Putin will go on state TV and talk about how we are evil and stuff, but that's about it. The conflict with Ukraine will stay there. Any other option he has isn't viable.

He wants the supply of arms to them shut off and thinks in a couple of months that will happen. He's fine with a war of attrition but with the Wests assistance the Russians have bled a lot more than they thought they would. What's a few civilians to him at this point when other options mean more arms coming into the hands of his enemy?
