Trump 47

Honest question, what have you learned about USAID that has been an eye opener, and where did you learn about it? Was it from a legitimate news source or was it from Facebook and/or twiX?

I am against government waste, fraud, and abuse, and I know there is some out there. However, most of the examples I have read from DOGE so far have been wildly exaggerated and/or false and misleading. I have also learned that some farm state Republicans now want to walk back or transfer the responsibility of some of the programs that were cut at USAID to the USDA because they involve the purchase of grain and other commodities from US farmers.

Like I said I am all for eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse, and if someone can show me legitimate examples I may change my mind. However, I am appalled by the indiscriminate mass firings and dismantling of entire agencies regardless of whether or not they served important functions. It may sound like all fun and games to some, but these are people's lives, American lives.
Government docs Wiki leaks has up. Plus government docs a few former state employees directed to. Why were do you get your news. I try to find the source.

I get my news from all over, with the understanding that all news is biased. What did you learn about USAID that you don't like? As I said, it's an honest question. Maybe you know something I don't and I'll change my mind.

It's CIA.
Just so I understand, you don't like the CIA or you don't like covert operations that use foreign aid as a cover? If you don't like spies in general I quess that is your perogative, but every major country in the world has them. I know the CIA has probably done some shady things, but I think in general they are necessary and make us more safe.

Who was locked up for doing absolutely nothing wrong? Inquiring minds want to know.
1 example. I have friends from Colorado who were at the rally. They then went and toured DC, not at the Capitol.
Their college daughter called authorities and told them they were part of the people who went to the Capitol and they were locked up for 28 days.

They turned their sights on us. They are out of control. Yes I agree you need intelligence. Knowing what's going on in the world and influencing it in our favor is good. Paying US media to make propaganda for the US people is bad.

Assuming that I believe your anonymous friends are real, that is a problem with their daughter not the government and would be atypical of the people that were actually prosecuted, convicted, then sentenced to jail for J6. I hope their daughter was prosecuted for filing a false police report, but I also wonder why they had to spend 28 days in jail without a conviction. Could they not afford bail? I would think someone that could afford to travel to DC could also afford bail.

Held without bail. Many of them were. It's really not hard to find the stories about the people who were arrested without cause.

Actually it is hard to find. I just googled it and didn't find much, unless you count a tweet by Vivek Ramaswamy, which I don't consider legitimate proof. However, I'll concede your two friends. Your original comment said "hundreds" so who else was jailed for doing "absolutely nothing wrong" on J6?

You lie with dogs your gonna catch fleas. Maybe the smart thing to do is avoid domestic terrorists so you don't get confused with them.

I hate to tell you but that sort of thing happens sometimes when people are arrested. I think about a story on reddit where a guy got caught up in something shady his businesses partner was doing and spent like 45 days in jail waiting on charges to be brought before a judge before the authorities realized they had someone innocent in custody. He got an infection in his eye during his incarceration and eventually needed a cornea transplant. I'm guessing your friends experienced a part of the judicial system white people from rural Colorado usually don't get to see. If your still upset be upset with them being incarcerated that long while the system took its time getting to them.
