Steve Lutz era begins tonight

I am going to post these here as I catch them. Reminds me so much of Jay Bilas. His transparency, his calling out selfishness, his wit and humor and his stern tone is a breath of fresh air. Love the multiple video sessions and exposing the boys weaknesses. He said anywhere from 5-50 clips they correct on each player. That is awesome!! Cannot get enough!

Thank you for posting this.

Do ya’ll understand how amazing this is? It’s night and day difference from what we’ve seen and it makes me extremely hopeful. This is the definition of headed in the right direction.

One thing to note about the tourney. It starts in the non-con. One of the things that really hurt MB was losing to lower tier teams in the non-con....my guess is that cost him at least one tourney appearance. SIU beat us the last two times we played, both one score games. I'm looking forward to tonight.

Agreed you just can’t have bad out of conference losses knowing you’re going to lose games in the Big 12. In all honesty, if Lutz wants to make the tourney this year tonight is pretty much a must win.

I don't consider it a must-win, but he's been preaching about consistency, defensive intensity, and taking good shots - all things you need to be competitive at the highest levels with his approach - so it'll be interesting to see if those areas are improved enough to snag a W against a better opponent than the first ones we've seen so far this season.

Unless he is .500 or above in conference his non conference slate needs to be really clean to make the tourney.

On a side note tickets for tonight in the 300 level are going for $1 and 200 level close to half court can be had in the $20 range. Times have sure changed.

Making the tournament starts with bryce. Just like how lebryan nash had to carry that team to the tournament (with some help but he had to be consistent each game).

Let’s hope Bryce makes up for his previous years and does a Cade Cunningham impersonation this year.

There are currently 9 teams in the Big 12 getting votes for the top 25. Six teams are solidly in the top 25. I am having a hard time seeing us in the NCAA Tournament. I hope that I am wrong but the schedule is brutal.

On the bright side I think we will beat SIU tonight. I hated losing to them the past two years. It was hard to lose those games as we played so poorly.

The Cade Cunningham year was the single biggest justification for terminating Mike Boynton‘s contract that has ever existed in the history of Oklahoma State, college, or any level of basketball,. I hope to God, Bryce Thompson does not replicate that.😂😂😂

I hope he scores like Cade and everyone else scores, too.

I feel like, in addition to Thompson*,
that Avery*, Dean, Ousmane*, Brantley and Newman* are all capable of double digit scoring within this offense, and any of the 4 with * could go 20+ on a given night. After Newman forced some early shots Thursday (that I thought would get him yanked), he settled down and showed what I thought was the best shooting stroke we've had since Page/Forte.

Side note: As much as I like Lutz's willingness to yank guys for bonehead plays, I was equally impressed that he left Newman in until he settled in to the rhythm of the game.

Brantley is actually the most accomplished scorer at the D1 level of the bunch. I’d add Suemnik to the list as well since he’s had those type of scoring games at WVU.

I think it had to do with a couple of things.

Newman took those shots in the flow of the offense.

Newman has been w Coach Lutz for I think 3 years now.

Also I agree w you on his stroke. Everything from his feet through his shoulders and release is so good. His head is also still. No fade. No hitch. Just a good jump shot.

I also think you’ll see more sets w he and Thompson bc teams can’t play off both.

Also I don’t think we’ll see Dean, Thompson and Chi Chi a lot together. I like all 3 they just have some decision making issues at times.

Yeah ever since I saw that first shot from Newman I went "that was probably the most beautiful shooting form I've seen in a while for an osu fan". I don't play or watch golf but I imagine it being equivalent to a perfect swing lol
