OSU vs Texas Tech Game Thread

Can we admit that Sesi is not a D1 RB?
A lot of this roster is not D1 or definitely not P4. We came into the season with only one D1 caliber QB on the roster and that’s crazy to think about.

The other day I heard RA talking about which guys from the offense he’d try to keep. He rattled off the majority of the guys on this roster and I’m thinking are you just saying the coaching is that bad? Based on what we are seeing it is one or the other, either this coaching staff is horrendous or the talent level pitiful. Seeing as we had complete staff turnover and same results this year, I tend to believe the latter.

Fields and Gregory are the only ones that are definite keepers.

All these players are trash. We shouldn’t throw any money at these guys. No one should be paid from a 1-11 team. I’d rather go after leftover scraps from other teams. I care when kids care about the program. Now that mentality is destroyed, if these players suck then screw them all…

The rebuild is going to take a couple of years. Just completely devoid of talent

We could have unlimited money for the portal and still have a complete ass team next year because of how awful the whole team is. Gundy completely tanked this program on the way out the door. Honestly the success we’ve had over the past 20 years has been completely negated by these past 2 years. When Gundy had the chance to leave a decent legacy he took a big crap on the fans and program.

At least two years, more likely three. And the new coach's contract will need to reflect this reality. It will take that long for a coach to establish a good program where high level recruits will want to play. Call it the Lutz model: He now has three four-star recruits signed up for the 2026 season.

Easier to talk to donors and get a couple million for a couple high ranked players. We have won the bidding war a couple of times. Tough to do in football….esp now having to replace 80+ players in 1-2 years

You’re high.
Less pressure
Easier path to playoff
Better town
Better recruiting grounds
Better current program trajectory

Honestly there’s a lot of similarities. Now if you want to go back and look at Weeden2Blackmon and a bakers dozen or whatever straight bowl games we went to that’s a different story. I’m just saying in a coach’s eye, unless you double a salary I personally think most would covet USF position over Meachums. Going to take a lot of re$ources to get out of this abyss. And the scary part is if we do does the Coach leave?

Well you do have some points:

Less pressure - Absolutely
Easier path to playoff - do not agree at all
Better town - if you like Disney and rain every afternoon - yes. More expressive beer, housing and meals out of the program, and humidity that messes with you girlfriend's hair and maybe yours, no...;)
Better recruiting grounds - yes, does that matter anymore now that these blokes are play for pay pros? Also, their stadium, new soon, 35K capacity.
Better current program trajectory - pretty arbitrarily, data points, SOS, injuries, etc., Push at best - arbitrarily answer...
I understand your frustrations, however, sometimes we actually have to look to the future and have open but expectant eyes. Did Mike eat so much of his my "system works and we can fix this" - 100%. Can we rebound - hell yes. it's like Chad said - this is not the oSu of the 1980's.
I'm more worried about our Athletic Department and BOR makeup. The Athletic Department needs to adopt the SEC - AKA uo model asap.. It was printed in the Daily OUlahoman this last week. We have one dude doing most agent dealings and they have an entire department of experienced professionals doing "the deals" before recruits come on their campus. Mike wanted this control and I think this is one of the main items that sunk his boat. The BOR can do their own implosion.
We are at bottom but I still believe This:

The quote about rising like a phoenix

From ashes we rise — every fall is just a silent prelude to our powerful comeback. Like a phoenix, oSu is meant to burn bright and be reborn stronger.
