Ok we now have two items we agree on.Oklahoma lawmaker bill seeks to strip Medicaid coverage for school-based IEP assistance KFOR
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Oklahoma Senate Dusty Deever (R-Elgin) has authored SB 1017 which seeks to restrict Medicaid coverage specifically covering school-based behavioral
or psychological therapy for students who have an individualized education program (IEP).
Although SB 1017 seeks to propose stripping needed therapies and services by shifting the burden of responsibilities not all Oklahomans see the bill as necessary but rather neglect.
A group petition on Change.org of concerned Parents, Educators, and Advocates for Children with Special Needs who oppose SB 1017 say, it’s detrimental effects will to take away critical support services that many students depend on daily. Those services include the following:
The petition additionally cites, SB 1017 threatens to undermine protections with children with disabilities rely on in educational support, accountability, communication, learning and in doing so creates barriers for families who seek legal recourse if school fails to provide necessary supports.
- Behavioral Therapy,
- Speech Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Removing Accomodations
- Removing modificaitons
- Removing assistive technology
Sen. Deevers has also introduced SB 702 the Health Education Act, which seeks to remove any reference to mental health from school-provided health education.
According to Sen. Deevers, SB 702 is a bill to ensure that Oklahoma health education curriculum focuses on physical health, exercise, and nutrition, equipping students with the knowledge necessary for lifelong wellness and staying out of morally questionable judgments best left to parents.
“Nationwide, there has been a push to expand health education to include liberal versions of reproductive health, sex ed, gender theory, and psychological counseling. These are best done under the supervision of parents,” Deevers said. “SB702 keeps health education centered on what truly matters—teaching students how to take care of their bodies, make informed dietary choices, and develop healthy habits without left-wing ideological influence.”
I am just going to be honest with you guys. I am pro-life because of deeply held religious beliefs. However, guys like Senator Deever disgust me. He is an abolitionist, but like so many others of his ilk, he has absolutely no concern for children after they are born.Oklahoma lawmaker bill seeks to strip Medicaid coverage for school-based IEP assistance KFOR

Meh. Least controversial thing that Deevers has proposed. Most of his bills don’t even make it to committee. What’s the problem with paying state employees in Bitcoin if that is what they want? Russell Okung got half his NFL salary in Bitcoin, which has appreciated nicely.Oklahoma Republican introduces bill allowing state to pay employees with Bitcoin

It’s that “if they want” part that concerns me.Meh. Least controversial thing that Deevers has proposed. Most of his bills don’t even make it to committee. Company store tokensIt’s that “if they want” part that concerns me.
Nothing in that bill actually specifically provides that the employee gets a say in the matter.
Each company starts its own cryptocurrency and only places they say can accept it and only works where they deem it canCompany store tokens
done sold my soul to the company store
Might want to re-read the bill. Sections 4A and 4CIt’s that “if they want” part that concerns me.

On SB702, Deevers probably thinks that mentally disturbed children, including those with gender dysphoria, have been infested by Satan or evil spirits and parents should take them to an exorcist.Oklahoma lawmaker bill seeks to strip Medicaid coverage for school-based IEP assistance KFOR

Gee, sounds like an expensive big government mechanism to have two methods of payment with various options.Might want to re-read the bill. Sections 4A and 4C
Not only can they “elect” to receive Bitcoin, but the employee gets a say in whether payment is based on Bitcoin current value or beginning of pay period. And further has a choice to take payment to their digital wallet or a 3rd party.
I agree.Gee, sounds like an expensive big government mechanism to have two methods of payment with various options.
As a taxpayer, no thanks. State employees can buy their own bitcoin just as soon as the good ol direct deposit happens.
