An Oklahoma lawmaker is proposing a law that would make it a crime punishable by up to a year in jail for anyone caught “in possession of” a shopping cart taken from a store.
...
State Rep. Rande Worthen (R-Lawton) proposed adding a section to HB 1689, which would make it illegal in Oklahoma to “remove a shopping cart from the parking area” of a store, with the intent to “permanently or temporarily deprive” the cart’s owner from using it.
It also would make it illegal to merely be “in possession of” any cart that has been taken from a store.
Under Worthen’s proposal, anyone caught violating the law could be punished from a fine all the way up to one year in jail.

I´ve actually been thinking about that a lot lately...remember when the republican party used to/still do call themselves the ´christian party´? maybe not using those exact words, but they are known as promoting christianity...how do you call yourself a christian when you have no empathy, compassion, caring, etc??? (if you have those characteristics nowadays you are called woke)... many years ago I had a family member become an atheist, and I asked him why? he said cuz majority of christians are fake - fair enough...even on the topic of abortion - ´I am a christian and so I am pro-life´, most aint pro-life, they are pro-birth...These people are such good Christian’s.

With gay people they rely on a part of the bible to justify their hate. Yet with immigrnts they just flat out ignore the bible's instructions. (off topic to the post but has been on my mind).I´ve actually been thinking about that a lot lately...remember when the republican party used to/still do call themselves the ´christian party´? maybe not using those exact words, but they are known as promoting christianity...how do you call yourself a christian when you have no empathy, compassion, caring, etc??? Can't be stolen if you paid for it!Or grab a roll of quarters, tell everyone to line up at Aldi and go to town

I guess we are going from I don't want people to get special treatment to its ok to openly discriminate certain classes.
That’s what they have ways wanted.
I'd be surprised if Sen. Dusty Deevers or some other Republican legislator hasn't submitted any bills against transgenders like the Iowa one. Anyway, the deadline for legislators to submit bills to the Oklahoma Legislature has expired.Wrong thread on my part-oops but yeah.
It was never about people being treated equal. It's anger over not being able to discriminate.
Darn, I went to the legislative forum at the Stillwater Community Center earlier this month and wish now I submitted on a card, "Do you support Sen. Deever's bill to ban porn in Oklahoma except married couples would be exempt if kept to themselves." Maybe the elderly lady struggling to read the question along with reaction by the two state reps answering questions would have been amusing, assuming the question was even picked. The new state senator, Dr. Grellner, didn't even attend.Oklahoma lawmaker proposes legislation outlawing pornography
"For far too long, civil society has conflated liberty for license," FOX 25 in Oklahoma City quoted the lawmaker as saying. "These bills are aimed at strengthening the God-instituted bedrock of society, that is, the family. A strong, prosperous and flourishing society depends on strong families." Yet it would still be legal for married couples to look at or produce porn as long as they keep it to themselves. So, Sen. Deevers, if married, made sure he would be entitled to watch porn.

That bill was from January 2024 and never made it to committee.
